Structural/Bridge Design Intern Benesch is seeking a motivated Structural/Bridge Engineering Intern to join our Railroad team. This role will involve applying structural engineering techniques to support the design and construction of bridges, retaining walls, culverts, and other structures for highway, rail, and transit clients. As an intern, you will have the chance to collaborate on real-world railway and transit projects, gaining hands-on experience in design, development, and project execution. You will support senior engineers, contribute to design processes, and play an integral role in innovative transportation solutions. Location This position offers a hybrid work schedule with the flexibility to work in any of our Structural Bridge offices (Chicago, IL; Jacksonville, FL; Omaha, NE; Fort-Worth, TX; Cincinatti, OH; Portland, ME) alongside the Railroad-Bridge team. This allows you to benefit from mentorship by professionals in the office during your internship at Benesch! Benesch's Railroad Division is made up of highly skilled rail professionals, many of whom are former employees of operating railroads. The Impact You Will Have Assist in structural analysis and design for bridges, retaining walls, and culverts. Perform AASHTO and AREMA bridge design calculations. Develop geometric layouts, structural details, and load rating calculations. Contribute to CADD plan production and quantity development using specialized software (e.g., LARSA, MathCAD, LEAPBridge, LPile, FB MultiPier, MicroStation). Support occasional bridge inspections for in-service or construction projects. Collaborate with Licensed Structural and Professional Engineers on local and national projects. What You Will Need Pursuing your BS in Civil or Structural Engineering or in a related engineering curriculum required Knowledge of structural analysis software and CAD design tools. The candidate will learn the design process and brand aesthetics to create seasonal trend direction and innovative footwear designs that execute the divisional direction and address consumer demands. This role will work collaboratively with design, marketing, and technical development to bring high-quality products to life. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES · Assist the design team throughout the seasonal process from product concept to production. · Research and identify fashion trends relevant to the seasonal design direction. Develop trend boards and product concept pages for customer meetings. · Create and edit product sketches, digital cad renderings, and design updates for seasonal assortment. · Requires keen attention to detail as role supports the administrative work needed to ensure samples and production achieve customer expectations and timelines. · Accountable for accurate and timely entry of tech packs and product specifications. · Build print artwork and material sourcing requests for our overseas partners. · Generate and maintain style line sheets, excel sample tracking forms, and customer catalogs. · Organize and catalog material swatch library and prototype samples. · Shipping and receiving coordination of samples for customer meetings. · Identify and recommend process improvements to drive efficiency and productivity REQUIRED SKILLS · Skilled in Adobe Suite software: Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign. · Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. · Ability to sketch, CAD, and understand foundational design element. · Good organizational and communication skills. · Must have strong time management and prioritization skills to accomplish tasks against internal and customer deadlines · Can be flexible and thrive in a fast-paced work environment · Ability to analyze and use market research to determine seasonal trends and contribute in design meetings · Must be able to be in Pickerington office 2-3 days per week · Professional demeanor and team-player mindset EXPERIENCE: · 1-2 years of experience in footwear or fashion related field is preferred · Previous design internship experience is accepted EDUCATION: · Design or related fashion degree · Can be currently enrolled in program with intention to graduate prior to position start date

Main purpose of the Assistant Designer role: * Strong knowledge of premium quality, contemporary design details. Must incorporate an elevated personal aesthetic and taste level * Create detailed technical flats and line guides; this includes intricate CAD work, zoom construction details for review with Lead Designer.
