Responsibilities: Set up and operate painting equipment to paint truck bodies or parts. Assist with continuous process improvement and lean initiatives by following process flow, remaining flexible to complete tasks as part of the team, maintaining a clean work environment and offering suggestions for improvements. Qualifications: Two year's education or equivalent knowledge in automotive or industrial painting. Ability to manually move product and material up to 50 pounds through regular heavy physical exertion, including but not limited to: lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling and bending. Using overhead hoists requires ability to push and pull up to 100 pounds. Ability to paint in a variety of positions including but not limited to: kneeling, crouching, bending, twisting, turning and climbing; while working on concrete surfaces, ladders and inside dump bodies. Ability to determine and make painting equipment adjustments as needed, read complicated instructions, use measuring devices and perform basic computer data entry. Ability to learn operations of multiple machines/jigs. Ability to successfully complete a pulmonary exam and medical questionnaire to be evaluated by the Company appointed PLHCP in order to wear a respirator. Physical Demands: Prompt and reliable attendance is necessary to meet our customer needs. Ability to manually move product and materials up to 50 lbs. through regular heavy physical exertion, including but not limited to lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling and bending. Using the overhead hoists requires ability to push and pull up to 100 lbs. Ability to learn multiple operations within a job area and must be able to regularly rotate jobs to meet job schedule, team needs or to meet any safety recommendations. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The purpose of this position is to perform semi-skilled and skilled work in painting and related projects, including preparation, application, and finishing of various surfaces. The position also assists with general carpentry, minor building construction, and renovation tasks as assigned. Work is performed in accordance with established procedures and quality standards; however, the employee exercises judgment in determining the appropriate methods, materials, and timing for completing tasks. Work is reviewed regularly by the Maintenance Supervisor for quality, efficiency, and compliance with project requirements. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the class as necessary. Prepares surfaces for painting by applying joint compound, sanding, and priming as required. Pressure-washes building exteriors, walkways, and other surfaces in preparation for painting or maintenance. Lays out, cleans, and paints parking spaces, curbs, and directional markings. Assists with general construction and carpentry tasks, including finish trim work, installation of ceiling materials, baseboards, and related duties. Picks up and transports materials and supplies from vendors or storage locations as directed. Maintains assigned tools, equipment, and vehicles in safe and proper working condition. Maintains accurate records of maintenance, repair, and painting work performed by entering data into the department's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Performs all work in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, codes, regulations, and standards of safety and quality, ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks. Participates in training sessions, workshops, and meetings to maintain and enhance job knowledge and skills. INVOLVEMENT WITH THINGS: Requires leading, operating or repairing complex machinery or equipment that requires extended training and experience, such as painting and shop equipment; may involve installation and testing. Involves operations of limited scope. VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL PREPARATION: Requires high school diploma, GED or specialized vocational training. SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES: Must possess a valid state driver's license. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Requires over one year and up to and including two years.
