The Medical College of Georgia Department of Cellular Biology and Anatomy is dedicated to understanding cellular function through state-of-the art research in areas such as autophagy and apoptosis, bone metabolism, developmental biology, molecular motors, dysphagia/swallowing disorders, exosome biology, renal disease, stem cell research, vision science (retina and cornea), and cell wounding. Job Summary
Perform administrative and technical work in support of research regarding retinal neurovascular biology and mechanisms of
immune, neuron, and vascular interaction that control retinal neurovascular function during health and disease. Work with
Principle Investigator and lab members to develop novel strategies for cell survival, vascular repair, and revascularization in
diseases like retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) and age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
Responsibilities
Responsibilities to include but not limited to:
Experiments
Technical work includes Molecular/Cellular Biology experiments; Cell/Tissue culture; Animal
breeding/handling; Vision function assessment. Analyze results of experiments and procedures
using manual or computer techniques.
Project Planning & Protocols
Perform administrative and technical work in support of research initiatives in assigned laboratory.
Participate in project planning and development of research protocols while insuring adherence to
accepted scientific research principles and compliance with relevant federal guidelines.
Scientific Literature & Meetings
Coordinate and participate in research of scientific literature; summarize and evaluate findings; develop derivative applications of applications of techniques developed by own research activities or reported by other research projects. Present findings at scientific meetings locally, nationally, and internationally. Compose articles for publication in scientific journals; review articles
prepared by others.
Administrative
Administrative functions include maintaining a detailed lab record and support daily lab operations.
Teach and participate in complex qualitative and quantitative analysis.
General Duties
Supervise and coordinate activities of students, graduate assistants and other research personnel engaged in research activities and/or related laboratory work. Advise principal investigators, other PostDocs, students, and other research personnel on research techniques, procedures and other technological aspects of research activities.

Job Summary
The project will use animal models of inflammaging including angiogenesis and cardiometabolic disease including diet-induced obesity, peripheral artery disease and atherosclerosis. Common experimental techniques associated with these mouse models include isolation and primary culture of vascular/inflammatory cells, gene delivery using adeno-associated viruses, measurement of protein/mRNA expression (Western blot, ELISA, qRT-PCR, etc). Responsibilities include planning and performing experiments in a properly controlled and ethical manner, analyzing data, and communicating results clearly through both oral and written means. Candidate is also expected to present data at national conferences and publish manuscripts.

The Medical College of Georgia (MCG) is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 304 students per class. Job Summary
A NIH grant-funded postdoctoral position is available immediately in the Georgia Cancer Center for highly motivated individuals interested in cancer immunology and immunotherapy. The major research focus of this funded research project is to develop new immunotherapy regimens through in-depth mechanistic understanding of tumor-host interaction in the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment using cutting edge technologies. The successful applicant will plan and take part in performing experiments with other lab members as a team. He/she will take the lead in analyzing, interpretating results and working together with the PI for manuscript preparation and scientific presentations. A motivated applicant with the career goal of becoming an independent researcher will be encouraged and assisted.

Perform Experiments
Plans, performs experiments and clearly documents experimental procedures and results.
Techniques
Performs routine immunology techniques, including high dimensional flow cytometry analysis, histology and immunohistochemistry staining, microscopic image acquisition and analysis.

Troubleshoot Technical Issues
Takes initiative to troubleshoot technical issues, modifies and improves existing protocol, and develops new protocols to meet the needs of new research projects.

Summarizes research findings and publishes results in research journals.
Attend Seminars

ANALYZE RESULTS OF EXPERIMENTS: Analyze results of experiments and procedures manually or using computational softwares. Perform vascular microsurgeries to model AVF, wire injury, and aortic aneurysm formation. Perform in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo mechanism studies on VSMC phenotypic adaptation in these diseases.
PROJECT PLANNING: Participate in project planning and development of research protocols while insuring adherence to accepted scientific research principles and compliance with relevant federal guidelines.
SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE: Coordinate and participate in research of scientific literature; summarize and evaluate findings; develop derivative applications of techniques developed by own research activities or reported by other research projects. Presents findings at scientific meetings locally, nationally, and internationally.
COMPOSE ARTICLES: Compose articles for publication in scientific journals; review articles prepared by others.
RESEARCH ACTIVITIES: Discuss with principal investigators, other postdocs, students, and other research personnel on research techniques, procedures, and other technological aspects of research activities.

Job Summary
The project requires developing of cancer registry by coordinating with the Cancer center administrative staff. Additionally, the postdoc will be involved in all lab activities that include project management, peer review, and organizing research meetings. Finally, the postdoc will be able to independently conduct basic inferential analysis, associated literature review, and writing by the end of the first year as a postdoc.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities to include, but are not limited to:
Coordinating with the Cancer Center administrative staff to obtain the list of breast, prostate cancer, and lymphoma patients in developing the cancer registry.
Completing Institutional Review Board (IRB) Documents for proposed projects. This would include drafting, editing, submission, and rebuttal of the IRB document.
Learn R, STATA or SAS to learn: Simple regression tests- parametric and non-parametric tests, Logistic- uni/multivariable, Longitudinal methodologies relevant to ongoing projects, Meta-analytical methodologies, and Basic machine learning methodologies.
Use the knowledge to create lab specific abstracts and manuscripts to presents findings in journal and scientific meetings. Postdocs will be limited to two national/local meetings as time off from lab. Completing 2- first author abstracts and 1 first-author manuscript is a requirement by the end of first year.
Coordinate most lab meetings and coordinate with all centers for multi-center inter/intra-institutional projects.
Miscellaneous lab related tasks such as manuscript submission and peer review.

Job Summary
A training position designed to learn, through engagement, in an advanced level of scientific, technical, and administrative work in support of a research program. Participate in research data collection and documentation within relevant guidelines and protocols; develop and evaluate new research techniques and procedures; publish results in scientific journals. This post-doctoral position will focus on the directions for the recent funded Strategically Focused Research Network on Cardiovascular Kidney Metabolic Syndrome: Heterogeneity in Women. The fellow will conduct research in cardiovascular epidemiology research with other investigators within and outside of AU, publish work in peer reviewed journals of the field, and disseminate collaborative work through presentations and collaborative manuscripts in peer reviewed journals.
The Department of Biostatistics, Data Science and Epidemiology (BDSE) in the School of Public Health at Augusta University (AU) invites applications for a post-doctoral fellow in epidemiology to start in Summer 2026. Applicants should have experience, interest and ability in cardiovascular disease epidemiology research in women. The position will remain open until filled.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities to include, but are not limited to:
Participate in project planning and development of research protocols and carry out experiments while ensuring adherence to accepted scientific research principles and compliance with relevant federal guidelines.
Analyze results of experiments and procedures using manual or computer techniques and, if necessary, develop special computer programs to facilitate analysis. Teach and participate in complex bacteriological, chemical and/or radio-chemical qualitative and quantitative analysis, macro- and micro-serological, histologic and cell culture procedures.
Coordinate and participate in research of scientific literature; summarize and evaluate findings; develop derivative applications of techniques developed by own research activities or reported by other research projects. Presents findings at scientific meetings locally, nationally and internationally.
Compose articles for publication in scientific journals; review articles prepared by others.
Work with students, graduate assistants and other research personnel engaged in research activities and/or related laboratory work. Advise principal investigators, other postdocs, students and other research personnel on research techniques, procedures and other technological aspects of research activities.
Calibrate, troubleshoot, repair and operate microscopes, computer-linked analytical equipment, dedicated computers and other complex scientific equipment; instruct others in operation of equipment.
Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. or equivalent degree from an accredited college or university in Epidemiology or a closely related field. M.D./PhD candidates with experience and interest in cardiovascular disease epidemiology will also be considered.

The Medical College of Georgia (MCG) is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 304 students per class. The MCG educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, with regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state, and two four-year campuses located in Athens (in partnership with the University of Georgia) and in Savannah (in partnership with Georgia Southern University). Job Summary
This is a postdoc researcher position, and the purpose is to advance the lab's cancer genomics research by leading end-to-end project's, formulating hypotheses, generating and analyzing multi-omics data, and translating findings into publications and grant support while developing the postdoc's path toward scientific independence in a collaborative team.

Pharmacology and Toxicology was established as a department at the Medical College of Georgia in 1943. Originally developed to discover how remedies and poisons effected man, modern pharmacology lays the groundwork to discover and develop future generations of therapeutics. Pharmacology's scope has broadened to include computer-assisted drug design; genetic screens; protein engineering; and new drug-delivery vehicles like viruses and artificial cells. The department's history of accomplishments includes the discovery of the adrenergic receptor subtypes-alpha and beta which led to developing several drugs used to treat cardiovascular disease. Cardiovascular and neuroscience studies are the focuses of the department's research programs. Raymond P. Ahlquist, working in this Department, first defined and ß adrenergic receptors in 1948. This discovery eventually led to the development of ß blocker drugs for hypertension and heart disease.
Job Summary
The main focus of Dr. Kaddoumi s Laboratory is to investigate the contribution of cerebrovascular dysfunction to the pathogenesis of Alzheimer s diseases and related dementias (ADRD) and to develop therapeutic strategies to restore AD-associated dysfunctional blood-brain barrier (BBB) and improve cognitive function. For this postdoctoral position, applicants must hold a PhD, MD, or equivalent degree in a related field (neuropharmacology, neuroscience, neurochemistry, vascular biology). A background in ADRD pathologies, and molecular and cell biology is required, with experience in cell culture and animal models. Candidates should have good written/oral communication skills, work effectively in a team environment, be highly organized, and have a documented record of research accomplishments.

Job Summary
This is a training position designed to provide advanced scientific and professional development through active participation in research. The postdoctoral fellow will be involved in experimental design, data collection, analysis, and documentation, all conducted in accordance with established protocols and ethical guidelines. Additional responsibilities include developing and optimizing research techniques, contributing to manuscript preparation, and presenting findings at scientific meetings. The role requires performing a wide range of complex laboratory procedures, including chemical, biological, cytological, histological, surgical, and computational techniques, to support the laboratory's research objectives.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
PROJECT PLANNING: Participate in project planning and the development of research protocols, ensuring adherence to sound scientific principles and compliance with all applicable federal regulations and institutional guidelines.
ANALYZE: Analyze experimental results using manual and computational methods, developing custom data analysis tools as needed. Provide instruction and actively participate in advanced laboratory techniques, including bacteriological, chemical, and radiochemical analyses (qualitative and quantitative), as well as serological, histological, and cell culture procedures at both macro and micro scales.
SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE: Coordinate and participate in reviewing scientific literature, summarizing and critically evaluating relevant findings. Contribute to the development of new applications or adaptations of techniques based on the results of ongoing research or methods reported in other studies. Present research findings at local, national, and international scientific meetings.
MANUSCRIPTS: Prepare and submit manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals, and review or provide feedback on manuscripts prepared by other researchers.
ACTIVITIES: Supervise and coordinate the activities of students, graduate assistants, and other research personnel involved in laboratory and research projects. Provide guidance and technical expertise to principal investigators, postdoctoral fellows, students, and research staff on experimental techniques, procedures, and other methodological aspects of ongoing research activities.
LABORATORY MAINTENANCE: Calibrate, operate, troubleshoot, and perform minor repairs on microscopes, computer-linked analytical instruments, dedicated computers, and other complex scientific equipment. Provide training and instruction to other laboratory personnel on the proper use and maintenance of these instruments.

Required Qualifications
A Ph.D. or an equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field.
Preferred Qualifications

College/Department Information
The Immunology Center of Georgia (IMMCG) represents a new initiative by the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University to leverage the ability of the immune system to combat disease. The IMMCG will accomplish this by assembling teams of biomedical researchers with strong records of scientific innovation and technological development. The IMMCG will be co-directed by world-class immunologists Drs. Catherine `Lynn Hedrick and Klaus Ley, both of whom have made major discoveries linking immune cells to specific mechanisms of disease. The goal of the IMMCG is to produce novel and effective treatments for conditions that heavily impact the communities of Georgia and the United States. The new center is aggressively recruiting faculty and staff to lead projects focused on cardiovascular disease, obesity and metabolic disorders, autoimmune and infectious disease, neurodegenerative disease and cancer.
Job Summary
Join our dynamic research team at Rafael Czepielewski's lab. We invite outstanding and highly motivated individuals with a Ph.D. or M.D. degree and a strong background in mouse models, immunology, or molecular biology to explore novel functional roles of lymphatic vasculature and immune cells with us.
As a team-oriented basic research group, we aim to understand the homeostatic and pathogenic roles of lymphatic and immune responses in the context of chronic inflammation. Our interdisciplinary team of experts uses cutting-edge techniques to unravel the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying these interactions, with the goal of developing novel diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for these devastating diseases.
Arising from these original results, our lab will further explore:
1) Lymphatic molecular remodeling and its effect on IBD immunity.
2) The formation and repercussions of TLS.
3) The intestinal antigen responses in disrupted gut to lymph node communication.
As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will be exposed to techniques that include but are not limited to: molecular biology, cell culture, flow cytometry, whole-mount imaging, tissue clearing, intravital imaging, histology, in vitro and in vivo assays and RNA-sequencing.

Pathology sits at the cusp of basic and clinical sciences. This unique position allows the Medical College of Georgia Department of Pathology to contribute in an important and meaningful manner to clinical care through the provision of timely and accurate diagnoses as well as laboratory testing results. At the same time, investigative approaches within the department seek to further define our understanding of disease processes, paving the way for therapeutic interventions.
The Department embraces the tripartite mission of the Medical College of Georgia i.e. clinical service, education, and research. The Department of Pathology (Anatomic and Clinical Pathology) has 22 clinical faculty, including 2 members based at the Athens Campus, and 6 research faculty. Clinical services are delivered primarily to AU Medical Center's 478 bed adult hospital and the 154 bed Children s Hospital of Georgia.
The Department also operates Georgia Esoteric Molecular Laboratory, an independently licensed and CLIA certified reference laboratory, which provides esoteric molecular testing and pathology consultation services for hospitals and physicians. Approximately 1.3 million clinical laboratory procedures and 13,500 surgical specimens are processed annually. With specialty trained experts in almost every area of anatomic and clinical pathology, we provide diagnostic and consultative services, facilitating key clinical decisions.
Job Summary
Perform and direct procedures and functions on the Molecular Diagnostic. Testing reporting to the Laboratory Director.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
Day to day supervision of test performance and testing personnel tasks.
Assure that all the right actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratories established performance specifications.
Coordinates staffing needs, training, evaluation, and competency of employees.
Maintain optimal cost effectiveness and delivery of testing with accuracy, validity, and reliability.
Perform patient testing when necessary to complete laboratory work.
Evaluate new instruments, methods, and procedures to keep the laboratory updated.
Ensure that all Quality Control measures are conducted and reviewed on a regular schedule. Preparation of SOP, validation of New Test.
Monitor daily QC to ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained.
