Thompson Legacy of Leadership Fellowship Program will award fellowships to first-generation1, law students in their 1L year of law school. The Program: The 2026 Thompson Fellowship Program ("the Program") is a 9-week fellowship program with opportunities to work at PepsiCo's Headquarters located in Purchase, New York and Plano, Texas. The Yale Quantum Institute (YQI), founded in 2014, serves as a forum to bring together experimental and theoretical researchers at Yale in the field of quantum information physics, quantum optics and nanophotonics, optomechanics, mesoscopic physics, quantum control, quantum measurement, and quantum many-body physics. It provides a synergistic and collaborative setting for Yale's cutting edge research in these fields. A report from University Science Strategy Committee identified quantum science as one of Yale's top priorities and Yale will play a major role in a new, national center for quantum research announced Aug. 26 2020 by the White House and the United States Department of Energy. In keeping with the mission of the YQI, we are pleased to invite applicants for the YQI postdoctoral fellowships. These Fellowships will support research in the field of quantum science for recent Ph.D. recipients in the group of any of the YQI faculty members. Candidates should have demonstrated excellent research ability in their prior work and exceptional promise for future leadership in their field of interest. Each candidate should clearly indicate which research group (or in special cases, groups) they intend to work with, and are encouraged to contact these YQI Faculty members in advance. The Fellow will work part-time in the Pace Energy and Climate Center while working towards an SJD in Environmental Law. We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated scientist to join a collaborative team of scientists in our lab. The successful candidate will work on developing novel approaches to enhance the efficacy of immunotherapy in treatment resistant cancers by modulating nutrient metabolism. This exciting project is funded by a National Cancer Institute R37 MERIT Award (R37CA292807). In addition, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in collaboration with a leading US-based venture capital firm and biotech company for developing new skills on the process of translating discoveries from bench to bedside. The Beyaz lab aims to understand how nutrients and metabolism influence cellular networks that govern tissue regeneration, cancer and immunity. We dissect the precise mechanisms of how reciprocal interactions between tissue stem cells; immune cells and the microbiome affect tissue fitness or cancer outcomes. We utilize state-of-the-art experimental and computational approaches to integrate genetic, epigenetic, metabolism and microbiome data to identify causal targets that can be therapeutically exploited. To assess therapeutic potential of our discoveries, we have established a comprehensive and inclusive biobank with tissue specimens, autologous patient-derived organoids and immune cell co-culture systems from patients across diverse ancestries. The successful candidate will have access to all of these resources in the Beyaz lab and work in partnership with our clinical collaborators to develop highly effective cancer immunotherapy modalities with minimal toxicity to host.
