AREAS OF CLINICAL CONCENTRATION:
Voice
Collaborate in patient care with our Voice and Swallowing Center laryngologists and other physician referrals.
Perform rigid and/or flexible video laryngostroboscopy to assess laryngeal function and biomechanics.
Evaluate patients via use of acoustic, phonatory aerodynamic, and/or perceptual measurements for differential diagnosis and to formulate recommendations/plan of care.
Offer individualized voice therapy treatment programs through a variety of approaches.
Educate patients on issues regarding vocal health and hygiene, potentially abusive vocal behaviors, irritable larynx syndrome, chronic cough/throat clearing, and management of reflux through dietary and behavioral modifications.
Provide therapy pre- and post- laryngeal surgery to optimize vocal outcome and reduce the risk of re-injury.
Educate patients how to independently resolve episodic dyspnea related to inducible laryngeal obstruction through laryngeal control/respiratory retraining exercises, postural adjustment and optimization of typical respiratory patterns during speech and at rest.
Dysphagia (adult)
Perform differential diagnosis of swallowing disorders via clinical and instrumental assessment using Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBS) and/or Flexible Endoscopic Examination of Swallowing (FEES).
Identify treatment options for dysphagia, including alternative means of nutrition (PEG or NG), diet modifications (thin/nectar/honey-thickened liquid), postural techniques, and exercise-based swallowing therapy.
Provide evidence-based dysphagia rehabilitation utilizing sEMG, lingual manometry, respiratory muscle training, and pharyngeal strengthening exercises
Head & Neck Cancer Dysphagia
Perform pre and post swallowing evaluations via FEES or MBS before patients begin radiation and/or undergo surgical resection of the head and neck.
Assess and train patients on optimal adaptive feeding techniques such as lavage feeding, modified syringe feeding, glossectomy techniques, and all other compensatory strategies for oral and pharyngeal deficits post-surgery.
Head & Neck Cancer Communication
Provide therapeutic intervention for intelligibility in the post-operative patient when indicated, utilizing compensatory strategies for intelligibility and/or compensatory techniques and exercises for lingual/labial/facial strength, range of motion, and articulatory competence.
Manage total laryngectomy patients. Includes thorough pre-operative education on upcoming changes regarding anatomy and communication between inpatient and outpatient providers.
Train patients on use of electrolarynx, HME systems, stoma support, and other stoma care products.
Maintain a working knowledge of pertinent insurance coverage and assist patients and family members with ordering/obtaining necessary stoma care/cover supplies.
Manage tracheoesophageal voice prosthesis (TEP) program.
Provide pre-op education regarding purpose, use, cleaning, and maintenance of the TEP.
Troubleshoot both chronic and urgent TEP issues, such as leaking, changes in voicing, dislodgement, loss of the prosthesis, or tissue changes.
Fit patients for hands-free devices and provide all education and training.

The Small Animal Nephrology and Urology service at NC State Veterinary Hospital is a busy service that operates within the Small Animal Internal Medicine and Emergency Critical Care services and is made up of 2 founding members of the ACVNU and 4 faculty who are current residents of the ACVNU (3 ACVIM, 3 ACVECC).
The service is further supported by 2 Extracorporeal Fellows and 9 Internal Medicine Residents. The successful candidate will be expected to be an active member of the section, attend resident training rounds/reading groups, and contribute to our delivery of exceptional patient care.
The Nephrology and Urology Service at the NC State Veterinary Hospital is accepting applications for a 24-month Fellowship in Advanced Urinary Procedures and Extracorporeal Therapy.
Candidates who are intending to become board certified in the ACVNU will be given preference.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* 50% extracorporeal therapy duty: primary responsibility is to assist with the management of elective and emergency extracorporeal sessions. Primary case responsibility will be maintained by the primary specialty service (usually Internal Medicine but sometimes triage). Primary ECT case responsibility will be maintained by the primary specialty service.
* During the latter half of this fellowship, the Fellow will be on-call for emergency extracorporeal therapy session.
* 50% advanced urinary procedures: The Fellow will participate in advanced urinary procedures, including but not limited to stent placement, ectopic ureter ablation, renal sclerotherapy, and lithotripsy. The Fellow will assist in the training of residents in these procedures.

The North Carolina Museum of Art (NCMA) invites applications for a two-year curatorial research fellowship with the Museum's Initiative for Jewish Art and Culture. The fellow will conduct original research grounded in the NCMA's preeminent collection of Jewish ceremonial art and supported by the extensive library and research resources of the NCMA, UNC-Chapel Hill, and Duke University. Projects may engage any period or region represented in or related to the global collections, which span the early modern era to the contemporary moment.
The fellow will be considered a professional member of the Museum's curatorial staff with ready access to curators, educators, conservators, and other Museum departments as well as professional development and networking opportunities across the Triangle region. The fellowship offers opportunities to present scholarship in public and academic settings and, through partnerships with the Carolina Center for Jewish Studies and the Duke Center for Jewish Studies, to participate in teaching and collaborative research. The Curatorial Fellow, Initiative for Jewish Art and Culture, will receive an annual salary of $45,000 plus research and travel expenses up to a maximum of $5,000 and benefits. The Fellow will be expected to work on NCMA projects for an average of 30 hours per week.
Requirements
This fellowship is open to scholars of art history, Jewish studies, or related fields. Eligible candidates must have completed all coursework and examinations required for the PhD by September 2025 and must be actively engaged in the research and writing of their dissertation. Consideration will also be given to scholars who have received their PhD within the last three years. In all cases the most competitive candidates will have an expressed interest in a museum career.

The ultimate objective of this computational project is to prioritize new compounds for experimental testing. The ideal candidate will have significant expertise in bioinformatics and cheminformatics, working knowledge of multivariate statistical and data mining techniques, and strong programming skills. The Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) and Extracorporeal Therapy (ECT) Services at the NC State Veterinary Hospital are accepting applications for a 12-24 month Fellowship in Advanced ECC and ECT, depending on the fellow's preference/interest.
The duties of the Fellow will include:
* 50 - 60% extracorporeal therapy duty: primary responsibility is management of elective and emergency extracorporeal sessions. During extracorporeal week duty, the Fellow is on-call (7 days/week) for any emergency extracorporeal therapy session.
* Primary case responsibility will be maintained by the primary specialty service (usually Internal Medicine or ECC service); however, in certain circumstances, the ECT fellow may serve as the primary clinician for these cases.
* 40 - 50% ER/ICU duty: The Fellow will primarily receive emergency cases, supervise house officers in the ER and ICU services, and/or work in the hospitalist service, depending on the qualifications and previous experiences of the fellow.
* During the primary receiving or hospitalist duty, the fellow will take care of emergency and hospitalized cases as a primary clinician during weekdays or weekends. During the supervisory duty, the fellow will work directly with ECC residents and rotating interns and supervise the ICU and Emergency/Triage services during weekdays or weekends.
* The successful candidate will be board eligible or credentialed by the ACVECC. Time for board preparation (up to 8 weeks) is available for board eligible candidates.

The project entails the rational expansion of the GSK Published Kinase Inhibitor Set (PKIS) to enrich the current collection of de-orphanized human protein kinases and unique chemical probes for thus kinase library. Working with researchers at SGC-UNC as well as SGC collaborators worldwide, the successful candidate will develop comprehensive chemical genomics database of human protein kinases and their inhibitors, develop new scheme for automated detection of kinase (subfamiliy)-specific chemotypes, and develop predictive understanding of structure-activity and structure-selectivity relationships for kinase inhibitors to identify selective kinase-specific putative probe compounds. The ultimate objective of this computational project is to prioritize new compounds for experimental testing. This postdoctoral fellow position will be part of a multidisciplinary team that includes biologists, chemists, and data scientists. The ideal candidate will have significant expertise in bioinformatics and cheminformatics, working knowledge of multivariate statistical and data mining techniques, and strong programming skills. Experience with developing and maintaining large databases is a plus.

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Department of Urology based in scenic Charleston, South Carolina, is recruiting a Minimally Invasive Urologic Oncology Fellow to join our team as a Clinical Instructor to gain a comprehensive experience in genitourinary cancers.
The urologic oncology fellow works closely with the GU Nurse Navigator to help run our weekly multidisciplinary tumor board during which time all new cases are discussed with urologic oncology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, pathology, and radiology. Additionally, the fellow works closely with the urology residents at MUSC in the operating room and while on call, acting as junior faculty.
MUSC Department of Urology delivers the region's most comprehensive range of Urologic services, encompassing every Urologic subspecialty, with more than 30,000 patient encounters each year. As a tertiary care academic medical center, MUSC receives a large volume of complex referral cases from throughout the state of South Carolina and neighboring states. The fellow gains experience with five urologic oncologists and works closely with the overall multidisciplinary team in urologic cancers. Through these multiple providers the fellow will gain expertise in the endoscopic, laparoscopic, robotic, and open approaches to all urologic cancers.
Duration: 12-month fellowship to run July 1 to June 30.
