POSITION OVERVIEW
ProGeorgia seeks a Policy Research Intern to join ProGeorgia's Strategy Team. The Policy Research Intern will work with Strategy Co-Directors to collaborate with the ProGeorgia staff and Table Partners to establish and execute policy research opportunities that will enhance the work of the Table to strengthen Democracy. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, an inquisitive approach, data skills, research experience.This internship is also an opportunity to further develop those skills in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Policy Research Intern reports to the Policy and Redistricting Co-Director
and is responsible for the following:
Legislative & Policy Research
Conduct legislative research and analysis on key issues impacting ProGeorgia and its partners.
Track the emergence and progress of priority legislative bills.
Support post-legislative session analysis and assist in drafting recommendations for educational strategy.
Data & Mapping Support
Organize and analyze data to strengthen power mapping and targeting efforts.
Monitor redistricting map changes and collaborate with mapping partners to assess local impacts.
Assist with data mining, data cleaning, and other technical tasks as needed.
Partner & Coalition Engagement
Prepare research materials and summaries to share with partner organizations.
Participate in meetings with stakeholders, including the Data Department, to advance research strategy.
Gain a strong understanding of ProGeorgia and its coalition members' core issues and objectives to inform research priorities.
Administrative Support
Perform general administrative duties to support the Strategy Team's operations.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (completed or in progress) in Political Science, Data Science, Public Policy, or a related field.
Prior experience conducting research and analysis using a variety of data sources.

Location
The position is located in Atlanta, Georgia, with the ability to work a remote schedule with some required travel (10%).

The UPS Sustainability Team is responsible for developing the strategy of and executing initiatives to enable the decarbonization of UPS' global operations. The team works cross-functionally to design and execute greenhouse gas reduction solutions across all business units and modes of transportation, as well as to design customer-facing sustainable logistic products. Key Roles and Responsibilities include:
Support the collection, validation, and reporting of sustainability data, ensuring compliance with relevant voluntary and regulatory standards, including but not limited to CSRD, CSDDD, SEC, and ISSB.
Support the evaluation of data and system controls, working with data source owners to design, document, and implement controls throughout the sustainability reporting process.
Support the development, testing, and review of reports to track the impact of decarbonization initiatives and progress towards organizational sustainability goals.
Work with stakeholders to document, test, and validate sustainability data, and support collaboration with internal and external auditors during assurance processes.
Support the research and development of analyses to uncover opportunities, mitigate risk, and guide our strategy and decision making for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and Emory University Department of Pediatrics are actively seeking a fellow for the Pediatric Simulation and Patient Safety Fellowship
Job Description (duties and responsibilities):
The Simulation and Safety Fellowship is based out of the Children's Simulation Center as well as the Department of Pediatrics. This is a non- ACGME accredited research fellowship. The program offers specialized training in the principles and practice of medical simulation with a focus on training, human factors, system engineering, and patient safety.
The goal of the Simulation and patient Safety Fellowship is to provide exceptional training in the fundamentals of designing and delivering medical simulations, performing simulation based clinical systems testing, following up on changes made from system testing. The fellowship is designed to be tailored to the needs of our trainees. All fellows will receive broad-based training in simulation and patient safety, receive a reading list of key articles, and a scholarship oversight committee that will include experts from around the country to help steer their research or educational project.
The fellow will be supervised and evaluated on a regular basis by the Fellowship Program Director and Scholastic Oversight Committee.
Competency Based Goals and Objectives:
Fellow is expected to:
* Be present for 75% Simulation core team meetings
* Deliver simulation using traditional reflective debriefing and rapid cycle deliberate practice
* Organize and lead simulation in the fellow's medical subspeciality when appropriate to improve care or patient safety
* Complete course work assigned
* Complete articles assigned in reading
* Submit an abstract to national or international meeting.
Knowledge acquisition will be reinforced with educational opportunities through didactic conferences, case presentation conferences, and quality improvement conferences.
The fellow is expected to complete at least one project/abstract/manuscript related to medical simulation use for education, training or patient safety by the end of the fellowship year.
Interpersonal and Communication Skills:
Due to the interdisciplinary nature of developing and implanting successful simulations, fellows must be able to help drive formative meetings and execution of simulations related to their primary project.
Professionalism:
As part of the development of academic leaders in Simulation, the fellow is expected to be actively involved in the teaching of bedside staff, residents and medical students during the fellowship year.
Teaching occurs in the following settings:
* Inpatient setting
* Didactic conferences
* Simulation Lab
Systems-Based Practice:
The fellow will gain competence in Systems-Based Practice by participating in a number of multidisciplinary experiences. These include:
* Involvement in simulation, including helping to run simulation scenarios for Fellows and Advanced Practice Providers
* Responsibility for giving lectures twice a year for Simulation Educators, either on education day or at the educator meeting.
* Help create teaching scenarios for senior fellows and junior faculty
* Performing a needs assessment to determine simulation objectives
* Giving lectures to the residency if needed
* Participate in palliative care training for fellows to gain exposure to working with standardized patients.
* Organizing and arranging skills training sessions or workshops for trainees.
The fellow is responsible for completing the following education:
* Debriefing Academy Online Modules assigned by the program director
* Assisting in Simulation boot camp, ideally in their area of clinical expertise
* Assigned reading on simulation and patient safety.
There will be monthly Simulation Educator and Core team conferences with the Fellowship Program Director and/or Simulation Manager.

The Community Legal Referral Fellow will lead the Georgia State Office's community legal referral efforts in and around the English Ave neighborhood in the City of Atlanta, where the SPLC's new Atlanta Campus will be located. The Fellow will field questions about legal matters from community members and other stakeholders and refer them to the proper city, county, or state agency, or nongovernmental organization to resolve the matter. They will not provide legal advice in any matter, but they serve as the first point of contact for individuals or organizations seeking to understand a local legal issue affecting them. The Fellow will cultivate and steward relationships across the metropolitan Atlanta area, with a distinct focus in the English Avenue community.
This is a one-year fellowship, allowing the SPLC to assess the day-to-day legal needs in the community and help devise a sustainable, long-term plan for responding to them. A report and analysis of the legal matters that were brought to SPLC will be due on the 11th month of fellowship. This fellowship will end one year from the start date.

People-Centered. The Community Legal Referral Fellow must be comfortable having regular interactions over the phone and in person with a wide range of people, ranging from low-income and marginalized individuals to community partners.
Solutions Oriented. You know how to manage expectations in difficult situations: The Community Legal Referral Fellow helps connect people and organizations with government agencies, NGOs, and resources to help solve and/or confront their legal problems. The Fellow
will not
serve as their legal advocate nor attorney, and except in exceptional circumstances, neither will SPLC attorneys.
Connector. You like making connections: The Community Legal Referral Fellow will be the outward face of SPLC GA in the community on the westside to address potential solutions and identify appropriate legal partnerships.
Organized. The Community Legal Referral Fellow will organize and develop client case files and transfer memos ensuring a smooth case placement process while feeling comfortable working directly in and on behalf of community.
Experienced and Knowledgeable. You have a deep understanding of the Fulton County criminal justice system and City of Atlanta zoning, code enforcement and licensing issues. Having a legal background is ideal. You should have demonstrated prior experience in legal services in Fulton County, showing that you can independently refer people to the proper government, nonprofit or NGO(s) to help solve their matter and provide limited case management.
What You'll Do
Schedule weekly intake appointments and follow-up meetings for Westside and English Ave community members seeking legal assistance and consultation; identify legal issues; and consult with appropriate partners to determine needed response.
Develop, organize, and maintain case files, databases and archives to track outcomes of community members seeking assistance and consultation.
Assist with providing legal resources and referrals for community inquiries, filling out forms and drafting correspondence related to legal referrals in addition to collaborating with lawyers and legal partners to assist community members in filing legal documents as needed.
Collect data on community residents and partner issues to develop long-term potential solutions.
Conduct interdepartmental intake discussions and participate in legal strategy meetings to increase awareness of needs and develop holistic strategies to improve community outcomes.
Provide guidance around criminal justice and non-criminal justice issues, including local zoning, code enforcement, and land use planning questions from community stakeholders.
Conduct monthly impact analysis and weekly reporting of community issues to legal department staff at SPLC.
Provide administrative support and attend community events to strengthen community and state-based partnerships.
Develop and present a report on the legal needs in the community on the 11th month of the fellowship, which SPLC will use to formulate a long-term plan for responding to legal requests of assistance.
Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum 1 year of experience working on campaigns and/or advocacy efforts; demonstrated legal services experience and knowledge of the criminal legal system of Fulton County; and in-depth knowledge of zoning, code enforcement, and licensing issues of the city of Atlanta; and
Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice or related field.
Compensation & Benefits
This is a non-exempt role and the minimum starting salary is $73,832 ($35.49 per hour) annually. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

This role has the following work designation options.

Fellowship Description
The
Leader Fellowship
is a one-year program designed to prepare the future Head of School to launch an American classical charter school within the Liberty Classical Schools network. Liberty currently holds an approved charter petition in Fayette County and is actively petitioning for new schools in the Metro Atlanta area.
While training will be individually adapted according to the experience of the candidate, the Leader Fellowship will prioritize:
Instructional leadership in Hillsdale-affiliated, K12 American classical charter schools;
General organizational leadership within the Liberty Classical Schools network; and
Time and potential partial funding for the completion of an advanced degree in the liberal arts/sciences or educational leadership may be applicable.
Over the course of a school year, the Fellow will complete a rotational program designed to optimize experience and exposure in these areas. In every phase, the Fellow will have a primary point of contact and clear learning objectives and accountability.
Instructional leadership training priorities include:
Knowledge of the Hillsdale Program guide; resources available to Member Schools; roles and responsibilities of Hillsdale's instructional support team; attendance at Hillsdale Summer, Leadership, and Governance conferences; special emphasis on phonics, mathematics, and writing programs;
Practicum: establishing and maintaining discipline and school culture grounded in the Mission, excellence in teaching and learning, community and partnership, and the pursuit of school virtues: courage, courtesy, honesty, humility, perseverance, self-government, and service;
Visits to schools in the Hillsdale and Charter Schools Growth Fund networks;
Required reading and prescribed online coursework;
Practicum in instructional leadership: teacher recruiting and selection, in-service training, teacher feedback, instructional coaching, interventions, and the use of data to improve instruction;
Student information systems, enrollment, and scheduling;
Weekly/daily academic schedule and its impact to culture and learning;
Essentials of IDEA, special education, MTSS, RTI, EIP, 504, ESL programs; and
Authorizer requirements: Georgia Comprehensive Performance Framework; Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSEs); standardized testing requirements and administration, and Georgia's College and Career Readiness Performance Index (CCRPI).

Specifically, Forensic Services complete evaluations on the legal issues of competency to stand trial and criminal responsibility (insanity), as well as to provide comprehensive psychological evaluations for juveniles, in response to a court order. DBHDD also provides inpatient restoration and treatment for individuals adjudicated incompetent to stand trial or acquitted not guilty by reason of insanity who meet inpatient criteria. In addition, DBHDD provides outpatient competency restoration services and community monitoring of individuals under court jurisdiction
Job Description:
This is a full-time, 1-year, forensic post-doc fellowship with the State of Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities. There is potential for a second year of post-doc fellowship and/or permanent full-time employment with pay increase upon licensure at the completion of the fellowship. Fellows will be under the supervision of seasoned licensed forensic psychologists and provide clinical and forensic psychological services to individuals involved with the legal system. Provides Supervised Work Experience (SWE) -1,500 to 2,000 total hours - to meet the requirements for licensure in jurisdictions that require continued postdoctoral supervision. There are options to work with juveniles (outpatient) or adults (inpatient and outpatient) or a combination of juveniles and adults. Fellows will be conducting court-ordered evaluations and possibly providing expert testimony to State, Superior and Juvenile courts, as needed. There may be opportunity for some inpatient shadowing at one of DBHDD's hospitals, completing clinical evaluations, attending treatment teams and providing inpatient individual and group treatment with forensic patients.
Adult Focus:
Conduct pretrial outpatient Competency to Stand Trial and Criminal Responsibility Evaluations at jails, in the community, or in state psychiatric hospitals
Testify as to opinion if needed
Conduct outpatient and inpatient Annual Reviews of individuals found not competent to stand trial and not restorable or not guilty by reason of insanity
Conduct violence risk assessments
Depending on availability, there will be opportunities for inpatient shadowing, psychological assessment, treatment team participation, and providing therapeutic groups
Requires travel to various locations for outpatient evaluations and travel to the state hospital for inpatient opportunities
Will be supervised by seasoned licensed psychologists
The primary location for inpatient work is Central State Hospital in Milledgeville, Georgia (maximum security forensic unit). Other locations may be possible.
Juvenile Focus:
Conduct Behavioral Health (full psychological evaluations), Designated Felony, Transfer to Superior Court and Competency Evaluations with juveniles in detention centers or in the community, evaluations of juveniles charged as adults possible
Conduct risk assessments and cognitive/social/emotional/behavioral testing
Write comprehensive reports for the court providing background information, mental status exam, test results, diagnoses and treatment recommendations
Interview parents and gather collateral data
Provide feedback to parties involved with the youth
Testify as to opinion if needed
* There is opportunity for an adult/juvenile split
Positions are available in metro Atlanta. Travel reimbursement provided for travel to evaluations. Travel from home to State Hospitals for inpatient work may be reimbursed depending on location. Supervision will be in person and virtual as needed. Case Consultation groups, training and treatment team participation is available.

The fellow will become part of a team to assess mechanisms for the decline in cognitive function/mental processing during normal aging or in disorders including Alzheimer's disease and epilepsy. The position is in the laboratory of Dr. Ferenc Deak (Augusta Univ., GA), who has a long-standing interest in understanding the molecular regulation of synaptic neurotransmission. Currently interest is on recently identified variants associated with AD and epilepsy and their effect on neuronal networks and cognitive function. On-going studies include live fluorescence imaging of synaptic transmission and plasticity, long-term potentiation, and whole cell patch clamp recordings of neuronal activity in a variety of transgenic rodent models. Planned experiments involve human cells derived organoids.

The Fellow will contribute to advancing research on Black entrepreneurship and wealth building with a particular focus on the development of the State of Black Entrepreneurship Report and Dashboard. This position supports the CBE's mission to cultivate a thriving ecosystem of Black entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial thinkers, while producing rigorous research that informs policy and practice. The Fellow will work closely with faculty, practitioners, and community partners to conduct interdisciplinary research, analyze data, and produce public-facing reports and tools that track key trends and barriers in Black entrepreneurship.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Lead research and development of the State of Black Entrepreneurship Report and Dashboard, including data collection, analysis, and visualization. Conduct original, high-impact research on Black entrepreneurship, racial wealth disparities, and economic inclusion. Collaborate with faculty, staff, and community stakeholders to design and execute a shared research agenda. Prepare peer-reviewed publications, policy briefs, and presentations for academic, practitioner, and general audiences. Contribute to the Center's grant writing efforts and support preparation of funding proposals. Mentor undergraduate and graduate students engaged in research on entrepreneurship and innovation. Represent the Center at academic conferences, public events, and in external partnerships. Contribute to the broader evaluation and knowledge production work of the CBE .
