Job Summary:
The College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences is excited to launch a search for a two-year Post-Doctoral Drug Development Fellow who will focus on clinical pharmacology drug development. This fellowship is the result of a collaborative agreement between Drake University and Vanadro Drug Development Consulting.
The fellowship, unique to the Midwest, will provide pharmacy graduates the opportunity to gain a solid foundation and competitive edge within the industry through intensive training in various aspects of drug development.
The drug development fellow will work with many different industry partners to provide groundbreaking patient care globally. The fellowship will provide interactions with drug companies, the Food and Drug Administration, research laboratories, and didactic training in numerous aspects of research. Additionally, the fellow will be able to gain teaching experience in Drake's Doctor of Pharmacy program.
This two-year fellowship program will provide post-doctoral education and training in all aspects of drug development with specific focuses in clinical pharmacology and pharmacometrics. Some activities of the fellowship will include didactic course work related to various aspects of drug development, interacting with drug companies, researchers and governmental agencies, analysis of data from clinical and non-clinical trials, writing reports related to drug products being developed, and mentoring pharmacy students.

The Opportunity
As a producer, you'll play an important role in helping us to find and capture the same kinds of stories Fred did. You'll learn from senior leaders, tackle real projects, and receive mentoring designed to start your career path. After successfully completing the program, you'll be offered a full-time newscast producing position at one of our stations. You'll be paid approximately $769 per week during the 12-week program and will be responsible for your own housing. The station where the fellow will train will assist in identifying local housing.
How to Qualify
You need to have demonstrated an interest in and ability to produce news, either for television, radio or online.
Excellent writing skills, a demonstrated ability to produce a newscast, and a good base of editorial judgement are important.
You also need to have a strong academic record, and two recommendations from faculty or internship supervisors.
You must be completing your senior year of college or graduate school, and be graduating in May 2025.
You must be willing to spend up to 12 weeks post-graduation at a Hearst Television station of the company's choosing and be willing to relocate to an appointed employing Hearst station after finishing the program.

About the Fellowship
This ELPC-Hubbell Environmental Law Initiative is a one-year, full-time position with the potential for a further year's extension. This fellowship is in conjunction with the University of Iowa Hubbell Environmental Law Fellowship. This fellowship is exclusively available to recent law school graduates of the University of Iowa, including judicial clerks, or early-career attorneys who are committed to advancing environmental protection, climate action, and equitable solutions to pressing environmental challenges. The position will be based at our office in Des Moines, with a hybrid work environment. The Fellow will work as a fully integrated member of ELPC's legal and policy team, gaining hands-on experience in environmental litigation, regulatory advocacy, and strategic policy initiatives.
Fellowship Term:
Starting September 2026 - August 2027 with potential for one year extension for strong performance.
Responsibilities
Fellows will work closely with senior attorneys, policy experts, and scientists on high-impact projects such as:
Conducting legal and factual research to support litigation and advocacy.
Drafting legal documents including briefs, motions, petitions, and comment letters.
Engaging with clients, community partners, and coalitions.
Supporting legislative and regulatory advocacy at the federal, state, and local levels.
Analyzing emerging environmental and climate issues to identify potential legal strategies.
Participating in strategic planning and communications to advance program goals.
The Fellow will have opportunities to lead discrete projects, appear in court or administrative proceedings (depending on jurisdiction), and engage in professional development activities supported by ELPC.
Qualifications & Experience
J.D. degree (or equivalent) earned Spring 2024 or later; must be licensed to practice law or expecting to sit for the bar in a relevant jurisdiction.
Demonstrated commitment to environmental, climate, and/or public interest law.
Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
Experience in litigation, administrative law, or environmental policy preferred but not required.
Compensation & Benefits
The annual salary for this fellowship ranges from $73,000 - $86,570 (based on 0 - 2 years experience), with a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, paid vacation and sick leave, and professional development support.
