The Department of Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery at Loma Linda University in Southern California is seeking a fellow in Facial Plastic Surgery & Advanced Rhinologic Surgery. This is a one-year fellowship with broad, high-volume academic referral practice focusing on Nasal Surgery; mission electives are strongly encouraged.
Our department features 4 full-time, fellowship trained Rhinologic and Skull base surgeons in addition to 3 facial plastic surgeons. The fellowship experience is focused on Nasal Surgery with high-volume endocsopic sinus surgery, anterior skullbase, and selected reconstructive rhinoplasty cases. Nasal trauma and facial trauma will also be an integral component of this fellowship training opportunity. Broad training in both Facial Plastic and Advanced Rhinology is available, although reconstructive cases are prioritized over cosmetic and clinic-based procedures.
The fellow works at Loma Linda University assisting faculty with cases. Fellows choose their cases to ensure a balanced, fellow-directed experience. Intraoperative resident teaching is expected. Multidisciplinary Skullbase Tumor Board is required and reading opportunities from standardized curriculums are encouraged.
Pay and full benefits are offered through the department at a salary level concordant with PGY-6 salaries at our institution. Additional compensation from elective call opportunities or satellite clinics exist if interested.
Compensation & Benefits
The compensation range listed is for starting base compensation only and is adjusted based upon years of experience and/or faculty rank: $90,000 $104,000. This amount does not include variable compensation or extra productivity and is subject to the individual department compensation plans. This individual will explore the feasibility of applying innovative technologies and scientific principles to the development of new products aimed at improving cancer detection and patient outcomes.
The Postdoctoral Fellow will play a key role in investigating circulating tumor DNA (ct DNA) and contributing to research initiatives focused on early detection and monitoring of cancer. In this role, you will support Ambry's translational research efforts through internal projects and external collaborations, working independently and as part of a cross-functional team that includes R&D scientists, bioinformaticians, and enterprise stakeholders. Our capital habeas unit represents people who have been sentenced to death by state court juries from within the Central District, and whose convictions have proceeded through the state court appellate process and are now before the federal court on claims involving federal constitutional violations. Our Non-Capital Habeas Unit represents petitioners in non-capital habeas proceedings who allege that their state convictions are invalid due to federal constitutional violations.
Job Duties: Post-bar fellows will have an opportunity to work on cases in our trial, appellate, capital habeas, or non-capital habeas units. The fellows will work in their assigned unit under the supervision of an attorney. The fellows will be able to work directly with and on behalf of federal criminal defendants. The fellows will have the opportunity to assist with court hearings and, if applicable, trials.
Requirements: All applicants must be a recent law school graduate who is awaiting the bar exam and/or bar results.

This is an opportunity to train in a dedicated thyroid/parathyroid practice. The fellow will be primarily mentored by an expert in this niche practice with almost 2 decades of experience and gain from this specialized practice. The fellow would be expected to participate in over 300 thyroid and parathyroid operations including reoperative thyroid/parathyroid surgeries, minimally invasive techniques, management of regional metastatic disease and surgery for non-localizing disease. The fellow is also expected to gain expertise in thyroid/parathyroid ultrasound and cancer management. To provide balance to this focused mentor based experience, the fellow will have exposure to contemporary thyroid and parathyroid practices as managed by 6 full-time fellowship trained Head & Neck surgical oncologists who also routinely perform thyroid/parathyroid surgery. Additional H&N cases can be covered based on fellow interest, including: major head and neck ablative cases, microvascular reconstructions, TOLMS/TORS, endoscopic skullbase surgery, open/craniofacial surgery. A blended operative experience is ideal, with the fellows interest dictating the exact case mix. Participation in resident and student education as well as limited research is expected. The fellow has opportunity to assist at the VA or county hospital if interested in specific cases.
Limited call and clinic responsibilities exist to ensure expertise in ultrasound and biopsy practices. This is a surgical fellowship, with a focus on operative experience, however, time off and resources for board preparation is provided. A California Medical License is required.
Applicants should have ENT residency training and the ability to obtain a California Medical License and ENT privileges.

Ongoing research in the principal investigator's laboratory will culminate in submission of a career development award (K award or equivalent) by the end of two years. After sentencing, we continue to represent our clients on appeal before the Ninth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court, and again should there be alleged probation or supervised release violations. Our capital habeas unit represents people who have been sentenced to death by state court juries from within the Central District, and whose convictions have proceeded through the state court appellate process and are now before the federal court on claims involving federal constitutional violations. Our Non-Capital Habeas Unit represents petitioners in non-capital habeas proceedings who allege that their state convictions are invalid due to federal constitutional violations.
Job Duties: Post-bar fellows will have an opportunity to work on cases in our trial, appellate, capital habeas, or non-capital habeas units. The fellows will work in their assigned unit under the supervision of an attorney. The fellows will be able to work directly with and on behalf of federal criminal defendants. The fellows will have the opportunity to assist with court hearings and, if applicable, trials.
