    Description & Details: The Department of Plant Sciences at North Dakota State University invites applications for a postdoctoral research scientist position to participate in a collaborative project on the molecular characterization of sugarbeet genes associated with reducing sugar loss. The project will focus on traits related to disease and insect tolerance during growth, as well as post-harvest storage of sugarbeet roots under cold conditions. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining sugarbeet research materials; phenotyping for responses to diseases, insects, and cold storage; identifying gene loci through genome-wide marker development and genetic mapping; conducting DNA subcloning, plant transformation, and functional gene characterization; and validating gene functions using both forward and reverse genetic approaches. The candidate will also be expected to analyze and interpret data and publish results in peer-reviewed journals. This position is initially available for two years, with renewal contingent upon funding availability and satisfactory performance. Postdoctoral fellow at University of North Dakota, School of Medicine and Health Sciences, in the Geriatrics Department Laboratory. The primary focus of the laboratory is to determine the key regulators of stress and resiliency in humans, focused on the T cell stress response. On-going projects include preclinical and clinical studies utilizing in vivo and in vitro models which study how normal aging, longevity and long Covid impact the heat shock axis. One key goal is to discover the efficacy of plant medicinal such as resveratrol and curcumin in reconstituting the age -dependent decline in HSF1 activation. Successful candidates work closely with the primary investigator (Dr. Jurivich) and faculty collaborators (Drs. Brown-Borg and Mathur) as well as with trainees from UND. Will work independently and collaboratively with all the members of the research team, prepare peer- reviewed publications, grants and conference presentations. Duties & Responsibilities * Conduct basic research on the molecular biology of the aging stress response using preclinical models of aging and human immunocytes. * Investigate T cell resiliency with age using transcriptome and proteome profiles to further evaluate biological age. * Test anti - aging compounds to reconstitute the age dependent decline in the aging stress response. * Prepare and publish manuscripts, abstracts and reports * Complete and maintain training for laboratory safety and human / animal research. * Engage in advanced education in gerontology and collaborate on the creation of a biology of aging online course. The project will pilot a full-season autonomous farming system using Greenfield's BOTONY and "Grassbot" robotic platforms to integrate planting, in-row mulching, post-plant weed control, foliar feeding, and interseeded cover crops in dry bean and soybean production systems. The successful candidate will lead field research and data analysis to evaluate autonomous robots as alternatives to conventional tillage and herbicide-intensive weed management, with an emphasis on soil health, weed suppression, and crop performance in North Dakota specialty crops and soybean. The position will include close collaboration with Greenfield Robotics engineers and NDSU agronomists/weed scientists, coordination of research at CREC and on-farm sites, and development of peer-reviewed publications and Extension-oriented outputs. Hiring Range: Pay is based on several factors, including budget, labor market, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and/or certification and other business considerations.
