Dr. Song' lab mainly focuses on the molecular virology of HIV, with the long-term goal to develop HIV prevention and functional cure strategies. Summary Postdoctoral Fellow - Cancer Metabolism Research in the Ward Lab is centered on characterizing how systemic metabolism and nutritional status are transmitted to tumor cells via the microenvironment and how mitochondria integrate these metabolic signals during tumor progression and in response to therapy. Current projects in the lab are focused on how diet and exercise influence the tumor redox state, how substrate availability influences iron-sulfur cluster biosynthesis (Nature Communications, PMID: 38762605), a process critical to maintaining nearly all aspects of cellular function, and how the mitochondrial transhydrogenase (NNT) exerts its' pleiotropic regulation of redox metabolism (JEM, PMID: 32196080). We are recruiting a postdoctoral fellow eager to explore these topics and other aspects of mitochondrial redox metabolism through the implementation of chemoproteomics, metabolomics, and super-resolution microscopy.
