Fenner Drives company history timeline

1911

Manheim Manufacturing and Belting Company was started in 1911 by three area businessmen as a manufacturer of conveyor belting for agricultural markets.

1913

In 1913, immediately prior to the First World War, export markets accounted for over 70 per cent of sales.

1930

During the 1930’s, the company licensed technology from Brammer Transmissions for a patented link v-belt.

1937

In 1937, Fenner became a Public Company with share capital of £250,000, and has been quoted on the London Stock Exchange ever since.

1950

In response to a tragic conveyor belt fire at the Cresswell Colliery in 1950, in which 80 miners died mainly from toxic fumes, the National Coal Board asked Fenner, because of its expertise in reinforced polymers, to develop a fire resistant belt.

1952

In 1952, the brand Apex Belting was formed, a name still synonymous in Australia with high quality conveyor belts.

1970

In the late 1970’s, Manheim Manufacturing and Belting Company contracted with an engineer to design what has become the patented Trantorque Keyless Bushing.

1984

From 1984 on, the company traded as Fenner Manheim.

2000

After 2000, Fenner’s conveyor belting businesses saw continued growth through acquisition and organically.

2001

In 2001, Enerka-Apex joined forces with Fenner PLC, trading as Apex-Fenner.

2002

In the fall of 2002, Eagle Belting Company was acquired by the Industrial Division.

2005

In 2005, the Australian division was renamed Fenner Australia.

AEP has achieved significant growth organically and through acquisitions, including those of Wellington Holdings in 2005, which significantly increased Fenner’s presence in the oil & gas industry, and of Secant Medical LLC, which gave it an entry to the medical products industry.

2007

In late 2007 Fenner Drives acquired B-LOC Corporation, who owned the leading brand of multi-screw keyless bushings in North America.

2011

In 2011, Fenner Drives celebrated its 100th anniversary as a leading supplier of power transmission and conveying solutions.

2013

In 2013, Fenner Drives launched NinjaFlex, a revolutionary new product that was the first flexible 3D printing filament to hit the market.

2015

By 2015, Fenner PLC had revenues of £667 million, and with operations spread across the world, is a recognised world leader in reinforced polymer technology.

2018

On May 31, 2018, Fenner PLC was purchased by Michelin.

Fenner PLC changed its name to Fenner Group Holdings Limited in December 2018.
