Paul Hernandez has spent his 20 plus-year career working to engage and influence policymakers and other decision-makers on key issues ranging from health care and racial equity to homelessness and early childhood education. He has longstanding experience has enabled him to help organizations navigate through the complex public policy and political environment.

As Chief Strategy Officer for Fenton, Paul provides senior counsel and strategic direction to clients on comprehensive communications campaigns to impact timely policy issues. Along with his content expertise, Paul has extensive experience in philanthropy. He has served as a trusted advisor to the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, James Irvine Foundation, Conrad Hilton Foundation, United Way of Greater L.A, Silicon Valley Community Foundation, L.A. County Chief Executive Office, CA Community Foundation, Advancement Project, Strategic Actions for a Just Economy, Blue Shield of CA Foundation and the Executives’ Alliance to Expand Opportunities for Boys and Men of Color, including coordination with President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper Initiative. He has supported several place-based philanthropic efforts, including the W.K. Kellogg Foundation's work in New Mexico, along with the California Endowment’s Building Healthy Communities and First 5 L.A.’s Best Start initiatives.

During his career, Paul spent more than eight years with The California Endowment, the state’s largest private health foundation. He built alliances and generated support for the foundation’s health priorities, and was a key strategist in crafting and implementing a multi-million dollar campaign to advance statewide health reform in 2007. He is also a veteran of local government and politics, having served as a legislative deputy to former Los Angeles County Supervisor Gloria Molina, where he acted as the Supervisor’s chief advisor on law enforcement, public safety and transportation issues.
