Provide pro-active clinical support while assisting the clinician in meeting patient care follow up, exam room set up and meeting organizational goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(Included but not limited to the following)

Welcomes patients by greeting them, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries.
Prepares patients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the examining room; providing examination gowns and drapes; helping them to position themselves for the examination and/or treatment; arranging examining room instruments, supplies, and equipment.
Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; reviewing and/or recording medical history; taking vital signs; confirming purpose of visit or treatment.
Supports patient care delivery by helping health care providers during examinations; preparing laboratory specimens; performing basic laboratory test on the premises; disposing of contaminated supplies; sterilizing medical instruments; administering medications on the premises; authorizing drug refills as directed; telephoning prescriptions to pharmacies; drawing blood; taking electrocardiograms; removing sutures; changing dressings.
Educates patients by providing medication and diet information and instructions; answering questions.
Completes records by recording patient examination, treatment, and test results.· Generates revenues by recording billing information of services rendered; completing insurance forms; responding to insurance and other third-party inquiries.
Keeps supplies ready by inventory stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventative maintenance; calling for repairs.
Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.
Annotate temperatures for refrigerator, freezer, incubator, and room on a daily basis.
Autoclave instruments in accordance with daily and monthly cleanings schedules.
Exam room prepared for receiving patient, including an adequately stocked room.
Anticipation of preliminary tests. If appropriate, have patient in gown for pelvic, physical, etc.
Assisting provider with prescribed medication/samples from clinic medication outlet.
Review and planning of provider scheduling with LPN Care Coordinator. · Assist LPN Care Coordinator with referrals, tracking of weekly labs, radiology, EKG's. Log all positive HCG's, abnormal cytology reports in appropriate logs.
Assist provider with minor surgeries and procedures.
Give Immunizations and injections per provider directive.
Perform other duties as assigned by Clinical Services Director.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be computer literate and be able to operate Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
Must possess good knowledge of office practices.· Customer service oriented, organized, and diligent.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Must have excellent grammar usage. Demonstrates problem solving skills.
Ability to work effectively and consistently with limited direct supervision.
Ability to communicate well with staff, physicians and general public.
Exhibits commitment to effective problem solving techniques when issues arise.
Good organizational and strong communication skills with the ability to interact with a variety of persons.
Understanding, courteous, and professional at all times in contacts with patients, visitors, employees, and medical staff.
Dependable/ must have flexible work schedule.
Neat and friendly appearance.
Ability to speak Spanish. (preferred)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or equivalent
Current CMA or RMA required
Must be CPR Certified
1-3 years of experience in a medical office or health care setting environment preferred

The Certified MedicalAssistant - Urgent Care is a multi-skilled clinical professional that provides indirect and/or direct patient care within the scope of practice and in alignment with the standards of excellence and quality. Under the direction of the provider, the MedicalAssistant contributes to the completion of the patient's chief complaint (including, but not limited, to respirations, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, height, weight, and temperature), documents patient/family needs, participates in planning and implementing care for patients, and administers ordered medications (oral, injection, topically, etc.) within the MedicalAssisting scope and state guidelines.
**Essential Job Functions**
+ Understands and adheres to the legal responsibilities and requirements within the MedicalAssistant role.
+ Identifies significant changes in patient condition through data collection and reports them to the provider.
+ Troubleshoots issues and escalate problems to provider, direct supervisor, or appropriate internal resource.
+ Demonstrates standards of excellence in care in all interactions, for both internal and external customers.
+ Maintains clinical and administrative skills per the departmental competency guidelines to meet patient care and daily operational needs.
+ Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician.
+ Travels to other facilities for BSMH providers or adjusts hours to meet patient care needs as directed by the practice manager as needed.
+ Maintains a safe and supportive environment by keeping the work area, exam rooms, and equipment in clean, orderly, and safe manner, ensuring availability and proper functioning of supplies and equipment.
+ Assists patient and provider with virtual health visits which may include setting up the visit through appropriate platform, pre-charting the virtual visit prior to the scheduled appointment, contacting the patient to ensure preparedness for the virtual visit, troubleshooting virtual visit issues when needed, obtaining chief complaint and health maintenance checks, medication review, and other relevant patient details prior to the actual virtual visit.
+ Documents in electronic medical records (EMR) accurately and appropriately.
+ Manages in basket messages in the electronic health record (EHR) under the Provider's verbatim instructions.
+ May perform front desk workflows (i.e., My Chart requests, patient registration, scheduling, phone triage, cash handling, and check-in/check-out).
+ Follows up on orders, appointments, referrals, and follow up visits and collects co-pays as needed.
+ Other duties include, but not limited to, ordering supplies appropriately, tracking referrals, labs, and diagnostic tests, disposing of contaminated supplies, etc.
+ Actively participate in ongoing training per Bon Secours Mercy Health and market recommendations.

Review and planning of provider scheduling with LPN Care Coordinator. · Assist LPN Care Coordinator with referrals, tracking of weekly labs, radiology, EKG's. Log all positive HCG's, abnormal cytology reports in appropriate logs.
Assist provider with minor surgeries and procedures.
Give Immunizations and injections per provider directive.
Perform other duties as assigned by Clinical Services Director.

Must be computer literate and be able to operate Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
Must possess good knowledge of office practices.· Customer service oriented, organized, and diligent.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Must have excellent grammar usage. Demonstrates problem solving skills.
Ability to work effectively and consistently with limited direct supervision.
Ability to communicate well with staff, physicians and general public.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or equivalent
Current CMA or RMA required
Must be CPR Certified
1-3 years of experience in a medical office or health care setting environment preferred
Salary Description 39,500-43,600 per year
