In 1983, psychiatrist Ronald I. Dozoretz, M.D., founded OPTIONS Health Care, one of the first managed behavioral health care companies in America.
"In 1986 Doctor Dozoretz envisioned how managed care would impact inpatient utilization.
In the fall of 1986, ABS purchased a 30-acre campus, named it The Pines Residential Treatment Center, and expanded services to include a program for violent and aggressive youth.
FirstLab joined the FHC family in 1988.
In 1998, OPTIONS merged with Value Behavioral Health, at the time a national leader in the commercial marketplace, providing behavioral health services to a significant portion of the Fortune 500, as well as national and regional health plans.
TrialStar head quartered in Nashville, Tennessee, was launched in late 1998 and is one of FHC's newest divisions.
