    What You'll Do As Respite Worker, you will provide short-term relief to caregivers who are responsible for the primary care and support of individuals with developmental disabilities, participants (of all ages) receiving respite services through Easterseals NY- Rochester Recreation Respite waiver program. You will be responsible for the primary care, supervision and support of individuals within their own home. In addition, you will be responsible for recreational respite, e.g. - responsible for primary care, supervision and support of individuals during social and recreational activities within the community. Your responsibilities will include: Providing protective oversight for assigned individual. Providing assistance with personal care if applicable and as needed, as well as providing reminders and simple assistance for activities such as eating. Following service plan designed by the care coordination team. Encouraging individual toward self-reliance. Understanding and respecting the confidentiality of the individual and family. Accepting responsibility for compliance with all policies, procedures and service requirements of Easterseals and the Respite programs Completing and maintaining all required documentation required for position. Working in accordance with state HCBS Waiver Key, OPWDD and Agency policies & procedures and regulations required for provision of services, documentation, and training needs. Demonstrating ability to receive supervision from multiple supervisors when appropriate, cooperating with the individual, primary caregiver, family and program supervisor. Following protocols and procedures for emergency situations. Ability to communicate effectively, maintaining cooperative and regular communication/correspondences with supervisor, program administrative team, other employees of the agency and clientele as necessary even if not actively scheduled to work. Transporting youth, families and staff in a safe manner as requested for program (for recreation only). Candidates should have experience and knowledge of standard construction activities and methods using hand and power tools. Workers receive specific training in radiological controls, hazardous materials, and asbestos abatement and are expected to maintain their knowledge levels. Provide Support to carpenters, engineers, and rodmen with transport of materials and equipment. Builds and dismantles scaffolds. Uses rake, vibrator, wheelbarrow, and concrete bucket to place concrete. Operate, understand concrete vibrator and procedures. Install concrete with the use of hoses, conveyors and concrete chutes. Applies concrete properly in all weather conditions. Loads and unloads trucks. Cleans columns, walls, floors, tools and equipment during & after pours. Assist with the use of lasers. Signals crane and truck operators. Riggs loads for hoisting. Operate and maintain compaction equipment such as buggies and other similar equipment. Perform demolition work and operate air compressor with jackhammers. Operate, understand, and maintain power tools in a safe manner. Key Qualifications: Minimum of one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals. Ability to read and use tape measures and apply associated math skills. Must have the ability to exert heavy physical effort, handling average weight objects up to 60 pounds. Ability to kneel, stoop, crouch, balance, climb or crawl. Ability to correctly rig and hoist material. Ability to signal, rig & work safely with cranes. Ability to tolerate heights without fear. Ability to maintain balance.
