Prior to joining OCC, Mr. Wilkin served as SVP, CFO and Treasurer of a nationally licensed, internet-based real estate brokerage company. Prior to that, Mr. Wilkin practiced law concentrating on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, and general corporate matters. He worked at two law firms: McGuireWoods LLP in Richmond, Virginia and Kirkland & Ellis in Washington, D.C. Mr. Wilkin also practiced as a CPA with Coopers & Lybrand (a predecessor to PricewaterhouseCoopers) in Richmond, Virginia before returning to graduate business school and law school. Mr. Wilkin earned his MBA from the Darden School at the University of Virginia, is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law, and received his B.S. in Commerce with distinction from McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia. Mr. Wilkin serves on the Board of Directors of Carilion Clinic, serving on the Executive Committee and as Chair of the Finance Committee. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Virginia Western Community College Educational Foundation, currently as Chair. Mr. Wilkin was appointed by Governor Tim Kaine to serve on the Board of the Virginia Economic Development Partnership from 2008 to 2013, and has served on the Boards of Directors and in various leadership positions for a number of other not-for-profit and economic development organizations, including the Roanoke-Blacksburg Technology Council, the Boy Scouts Blue Ridge Mountains Council, and Goodwill Industries of the Valleys. He also served on the Board of Directors of Luna Innovations Incorporated (Nasdaq CM: LUNA) from 2012 to 2015, until Luna Innovations' merger with Advanced Photonix, Inc. (NYSE: API). In 2020, Mr. Wilkin was selected as an inaugural member of Virginia Business magazine's Virginia 500.
