Fiber optic splicer job description

The Fiber Optic Splicer is responsible for the installation, support, and troubleshooting of fiber equipment/LVC for commercial and residential buildings on the Pavlov Media fiber backbone. This position will also be responsible for the installation of fiber enclosures.
We will have fiber to the home installations in Lavon, Corinth, and Lake Dallas area.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Maintain a customer first attitude to ensure customer satisfaction
• Travel to each assigned site as needed to complete work orders
• Share information and provide feedback to internal teams on a consistent basis
• Field calls, emails, and work orders from Pavlov Media HQ
• Demonstrate effective troubleshooting skills and the ability to use them
• Understand network diagrams and other technical manuals
• Assist with upkeep on network documentation and product training materials
• Ensure that network quality meets Pavlov Media standards

• Strong understanding networking devices and wireless access points
Experience Requirements and Positives:
• Two (2) years of experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Two (2) years of successful deployment experience in LVC and/or fiber installations
• Two (2) years of experience with experience in troubleshooting networking issues
• Must have experience with the techniques, application and installation of grounding, Cat5, fiber optics, LAN/WAN networks
• Be on your feet for long periods of time
• Ability to lift 75 pounds
• Ability to use hand tools
• Current driver license
• Pass a drug test

• Ability to work from 7:30 AM to 4 PM and other times schedule if needed
• Receiving work assignments from company representatives, other designated supervisory personnel, or by electronic terminal
• Performing OTDR testing operations in connection with the construction, installation, and maintenance of fiber optic based outside plant facilities
• Installing, repairing, and maintaining fiber optic cables, wires and plug-in equipment to connect telecommunication systems and equipment
• Knowledge of different fiber count fiber and types of optic cables
• Must be able to distinguish colors of fiber optic cable (Ex. Red, Black, Yellow etc.)
• At least one year of experience testing Fiber Optic cable
• Reading and interpreting engineering plans, facilities plats, and/or vendor specification documents for the purpose of constructing, locating, and/or repairing fiber optic-based facilities
• Using test equipment such as OTDR for constructing, installing, and repairing digital carrier systems and high fiber based outside plant facilities
• Completing all related administrative paperwork to include, but not limited to, daily time sheets
• Knowledge in FTTH projects, OTDR testing, and splicing appreciated

Fiber Tester Basic Requirements

• Must meet Background Check requirements as set forth in the Outside Plant Services Agreement between Supplier and company
• Must have and maintain a valid state driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
• Must have the ability to work aloft
• Must have the ability to operate hydraulic aerial lifts (buckets) and ladders for hard-to-reach poles (Ex. Backyards)
• Must be willing to work any days and/or nights, outdoors in any type of weather if needed.
• Must follow established safety practices and guidelines according to EXCELL’s specifications
• Must adhere to strict regulations and procedures for the security of company property
