What is a fiberglass product tester and how to become one

Updated January 8, 2025
3 min read

A Fiberglass Product Tester tests various fiberglass products, such as bonded cords, insulation mats, water pipes, tool handles, and other objects. The testing process includes measuring, weighing, and using various tools and software to understand better the solidity, moisture, breaking point, malleability, and flexibility of the fiberglass item.

After recording the results, the Tester checks to see if the measurements match up with the company's standards, and then, should they find some sort of defect, such as clumps or cracks within the product's structure, they must notify the production staff, supervisors, and machine and product managers.

Most, but not all, of the measurements occur through specialized machines and software. Thus, the Tester must understand specific skills, such as IT and Assembly Line. There is no general degree required, at least none higher than that of a high school degree or a GED.
