Prepare quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Focus on long-term goals while maintaining the day-to-day requirements. Supports certification audits including ISO 9001. Must be willing to work reasonable overtime. Provide training to other new technicians. Education/ Skills /Experience: A minimum of an Associate Degree in Engineering Technology or similar field Minimum of three years of work experience Demonstrated knowledge of working on CMM instrument. Job Essential Functions: Interprets and adjusts core machine pressure, temperature and timer indicators and makes adjustments to specified settings. Makes minor repairs and adjustments, using simple measuring instruments such as a straight edge, level, measuring tape, rulers or calipers for core boxes. Sets up and runs various core machines and changes core boxes, completes core tryouts, fills core trays and cleans cores. Operates a fork truck to bring patterns and core machine materials throughout the plant. Throughout the shift will drill, tap, ream and coin castings. Evaluates thread and ream inspection during process. Disposes of scape castings at workstation and performs housekeeping tasks such as cleaning area and core boxes. Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities: Adhere to established safety procedures and 5 S standards (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize and Sustain the cycle) required to perform daily duties in this position, including the proper techniques used in lifting/moving of parts. Ability to read internal process documents and ensure chemistry is accurate. Perform chemical analysis by using Spectrometer. Perform microstructure analysis using a microscope. Follows all laboratory sample preparation procedures needed to qualify production releases. Maintain accurate recordkeeping for the traceability of all test results for future reference. Will be required to use a carbon-sulfur induction furnace and perform tests to always determine the amount of carbon and sulfur in the sample piece safely. Prepare test samples by sanding and polishing, using tabletop and stand-up belt sanders. Operate scales (electronic) to determine the weight of the sample. Mix polishing powders, materials to make polishing molds, liquids to make etchant, and materials to make a solution critical for the methylene blue test. Ability to operate a band saw, and tool grinder in a safe manner. Examine parts for hardness (Brinell) and gauging inspection ability. Machine and examine test bars for physical properties by utilizing a lathe and Tinius Olsen tester. Perform application tests on parts to ensure parts can withstand required forces and meet associated specification values. Other duties as assigned, required being flexible in their daily job assignment. Required Skills or Abilities: Ability to work individually towards assigned goals and key performance indicators.     Job Description Job Title: Quality Control Lab Technician Reports To: Quality Control Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Hourly Supervisory Responsibilities: No - Individual Contributor Under the supervision of the Quality Control Manager, the Quality Control (QC) Technician will have the following job requirements. This is not an exhaustive list and other job duties may be assigned. Work will be completed in a manufacturing environment, specifically an iron foundry. Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities: Adhere to established safety procedures and 5 S standards (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize and Sustain the cycle) required to perform daily duties in this position, including the proper techniques used in lifting/moving of parts. Ability to read internal process documents and ensure chemistry is accurate. Perform chemical analysis by using Spectrometer. Perform microstructure analysis using a microscope. Follows all laboratory sample preparation procedures needed to qualify production releases. Maintain accurate recordkeeping for the traceability of all test results for future reference. Will be required to use a carbon-sulfur induction furnace and perform tests to always determine the amount of carbon and sulfur in the sample piece safely. Prepare test samples by sanding and polishing, using tabletop and stand-up belt sanders. Operate scales (electronic) to determine the weight of the sample. Mix polishing powders, materials to make polishing molds, liquids to make etchant, and materials to make a solution critical for the methylene blue test. Ability to operate a band saw, and tool grinder in a safe manner. Examine parts for hardness (Brinell) and gauging inspection ability. Machine and examine test bars for physical properties by utilizing a lathe and Tinius Olsen tester. Perform application tests on parts to ensure parts can withstand required forces and meet associated specification values. Other duties as assigned, required being flexible in their daily job assignment. Required Skills or Abilities: Ability to work individually towards assigned goals and key performance indicators. Utilize precision devices and record data accurately. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and able to recognize outliers in recorded data. Possess time management skills required to handle daily assigned work and other assignments as needed. Proficient with basic Microsoft Office Suite to include Outlook, Excel and Word. Physical Requirements: Requires work such as sitting at a desk or computer for periods of time, standing or walking for up to 8 hours throughout the shift on hard surfaces. Must be able to handle precision devices with manual dexterity and the ability to traverse the manufacturing plant and warehouse to access samples, conduct testing or evaluate in-process work. Work is performed in a manufacturing environment which has some exposure to environmental factors such as loud noises, odors, variances in temperature and dust. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times without assistance and up to 50 pounds with assistance. Education and Experience: Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. 1-2 years manufacturing, quality or laboratory work is preferable. Salary and Benefits: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour, eligible for overtime after 40 hours in a week. 401(k) enrollment after 6 months of service. 401(k) matching - 50% of the first 6% contributed by the employee.
