Field assistants may work in various industries, including construction, manufacturing, and the government. That said, their job functions depend on their line of work and industry of employment. But in general, the duties of a field assistant usually revolve around performing support tasks and fieldwork.

To illustrate, a field assistant in the construction industry may have duties like managing the procurement process of materials, liaising between workers and managers, and overseeing work progress. On the other hand, a field assistant in a tech support position may be responsible for visiting client sites to conduct repairs, make replacements, or perform preventive maintenance.

As one would expect, the requirements to become a field assistant also depend on their industry and line of work. But usually, field assistants have bachelor's degrees in a field that is relevant to their chosen industry. As a field assistant, one's salary range would be between $25,000 to $43,000 per year. Again, this depends on their industry, employer, line of work, and expertise.
