We are currently seeking a Civil Project Engineer for a full-time position in our Albany, NY office. This position will be located within our Sustainable Planning & Design discipline.
Responsibilities include: data collection & analysis, study preparation, design calculations, estimates, production of specifications and design drawings, and onsite verification of construction projects for compliance with plans and specifications. Specific assignments may include developing site layout and grading plans, stormwater calculations, preparation of Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans and Drainage Reports, flood modeling, erosion control design, and site utility design.
Requirements
B.S. in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
4-10 years' of prior consulting engineering work experience.
Experience in site design, roadway design for subdivisions and local roads, drainage analysis and design, preparation of plans, specs, quantity and cost estimates, etc.
Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation is a huge plus.
Applicants that have passed the Professional Engineer's (PE) exam in New York are also preferred.
Estimated Pay Range: $80,000 - $110,000/year.

Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Configure grid electrical simulation models of turbines and wind farms, and work with customers and grid operators to apply those models to system integration and connection studies, including existing sites and Services programs.
Develop customer facing models such as PSCAD, PSSE/PSLF and etc. Work closely with CS on project specific studies.
Simulate converter, turbine and plant level controls/ interactions to evaluate project specific grid requirements.
Monitor the latest grid integration standards development and perform country specific grid code analysis on a regular basis. Translate grid connection requirements into product capability specifications for new unit and services products.
Work with the commercial team to assess scope and risk with respect to grid code compliance.
Support customers and Sales in answering questions and resolving grid code concerns for wind farm proposals and orders.
Support customers' grid acceptance tests, certification and issue resolutions with grid authorities, including developing plant-level control settings.
Develop depth and expertise in wind turbine capabilities, especially existing products, and their interaction with the electrical Balance of Plant, Distribution and Transmission systems.
Work closely with NPI and Services electrical design engineering to understand new product offerings and assess risks of not complying with grid code requirements.
Work closely with product line and CTH community to create or update internal and external documents such as grid PRD, GID, position papers, and etc.
Participate advocacy activities.
Identify gaps in grid related internal processes and continuously improve the processes.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university

The salary range for this position is $98,400 - $164,000 USD Annual. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location. **Leidos is seeking a Field Engineering Technicians to provide field inspections of utility poles in 3 areas in New York: Utica/Rome, Buffalo, and Albany** This is an HOURLY full-time role with hours contingent on availability of work. **Field Engineering Tech Responsibilities:**
The successful candidate will travel around the the Utica/Rome, Buffalo or Albany area to meet with joint pole owners to determine appropriate attachment heights for new 3rd party attachers. This role will also include traveling around to collect data, field measurements, and photos of utility poles. These poles have maintenance concerns identified by our client in which our field engineers will document these concerns and collect the necessary data for Leidos designers to design their solutions and fixes. In general, travel will be limited on most weeks, but overnight stays are occasionally required depending on the workload. Technicians are expected to meet the goals / expectations set on a weekly basis by their supervisor and communicate their status / progress effectively. As fielding skills are learned, the potential for learning/ performing design will be presented as well.
+ Significant walking is necessary; 95% of this position requires field related work. Candidate will need to be outside year-round and every week as weather and personal safety permit and could be subject to inspection of poles in the following areas: urban, rural, backyard pole lines, privateproperties, and Transmission and Distribution Right of Ways.
+ Work locations assigned vary monthly. If the work locations are long distances from the candidate's home, hotels can be provided (including per diem supplements for meals generally between $50-$70 dependent on work location). Most weeks, the technician will be working locally (within a 1-2hr drive one-way)
+ Candidate can either drive their own personal vehicle with a mileage reimbursement ($0.625/mi) or each week they can get a rental truck/SUV paid for by Leidos
+ Candidate will receive 16 to 24 hours of training with an experienced field engineer prior to working alone. Hours are flexible based on need dates of inspections. Candidate will be accountable for following Leidos safety procedures and reporting progress daily.

Your Role

Field Engineer Job In Pittsfield, MA
Leidos is seeking Field Engineering Technicians to provide field inspections of utility poles throughout the Western Massachusetts region. This role is remote, but the candidate MUST live in the Pittsfield, MA area.
Field Engineering Tech Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will travel around Western Massachusetts to collect data, field measurements, and photos of utility poles. These poles have maintenance concerns identified by our client in which our field engineers will document these concerns and collect the necessary data for Leidos designers to design their solutions and fixes. In general, travel will be limited on most weeks, but overnight stays are occasionally required depending on the workload. Technicians are expected to meet the goals / expectations set on a weekly basis by their boss and communicate their status / progress effectively.
Significant walking is required; 95% of this position requires field related work. Candidate will be required to be outside year-round and every week as weather and personal safety permit and could be subject to inspection of poles in the following areas; urban, rural, backyard pole lines, private properties, and Transmission and Distribution Right of Ways.
Work locations assigned vary monthly. If the work locations are long distances from the candidate's home, hotels can be provided (including per diem supplements for meals generally between $50-$70 dependent on work location).
Candidate can either drive their own personal vehicle with a mileage reimbursement ($0.625/mi) or each week they can get a rental truck/SUV paid for by Leidos
Candidate will receive 16 to 24 hours of training with an experienced field engineer prior to working alone. Hours are flexible based on need dates of inspections. Candidate will be responsible for following Leidos safety procedures and reporting progress daily.
