Position Summary
The HVAC Field Engineer supports the planning, coordination, and execution of all heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) work on construction projects. Working under the general contractor, this role ensures that HVAC systems are installed per design specifications, project schedules, safety standards, and applicable codes. Job Description:
Project Coordination & Technical Support
Review HVAC drawings, specifications, and submittals for accuracy and constructability.
Coordinate with mechanical subcontractors, architects, engineers, and other trades to resolve design or field issues.
Assist with layout, installation planning, and field verification of mechanical systems.
Support the implementation of BIM coordination and clash detection for MEP systems.
Field Management
Monitor HVAC installation activities to ensure compliance with plans, codes, and safety regulations.
Conduct site inspections and quality checks on ductwork, piping, insulation, and equipment installations.
Maintain daily logs, track progress, and assist in preparing field reports and punch lists.
Verify equipment deliveries, storage, and handling to ensure manufacturer requirements are met.

Assist in developing and maintaining MEP project schedules.
Track progress of HVAC work against schedule milestones.
Support cost tracking, change order documentation, and subcontractor billing verification.
Testing, Commissioning & Closeout
Coordinate HVAC testing, adjusting, and balancing (TAB) activities.
Support commissioning documentation, start-up procedures, and turnover packages.
Ensure as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and warranties are properly collected and submitted.
Safety & Compliance
Enforce site safety policies and promote a safe work environment.
Ensure all HVAC work meets local building codes, energy standards, and environmental regulations.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred. High School Diploma required.
Two (2)+ years of experience in HVAC or MEP construction (field or project engineering).
Experience working with a general contractor or large mechanical subcontractor strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of HVAC systems (air distribution, hydronics, controls, and equipment).
Familiarity with construction documents, specifications, and submittal processes.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and MS Project or Primavera P6.
Knowledge of mechanical codes (ASHRAE, SMACNA, IMC) and commissioning practices.

Must be able to travel domestically to remote rig locations, in company vehicle, throughout the United States.
Will be assigned to one rig, or multiple rigs, based on business needs.
Maybe required to sit a tower on an active rig.
Ability to perform standard rig up and rig out procedures, while coaching and mentoring technicians at every level.

Will oversee, and when necessary, perform routine maintenance services, and routine electrical services on various equipment.
Will oversee and mentor and coach technicians on standard operating procedure for moving cuttings from pits to trailers, by operating heavy machinery, safely and efficiently.
Must complete mentor certification program aiding in the ability to handle a variety of personality issues appropriately.
