Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a **Principal or Senior Principal Network and Communications Field Service Engineer** to our team at **RAAF Base Edinburgh** near **Adelaide, Australia** . This position will receive daily tasking and prioritization from their site lead. The selected candidate will be responsible for operations and maintenance support of the MQ-4C Triton network and communications systems at a Forward Operating Base (FOB). **Duties and Responsibilities:** + Provide real time support for flight operations and maintenance, addressing any issues related to communications and networking to include fault isolation, remediation, and resolution. + Perform field integration, troubleshooting, and repair of communications and data link systems in military flight test environment, including operations on a flightline, in a hangar, and in command-and-control centers. + Adherence to checklists and procedures to ensure repeated success and providing redlines to procedures when necessary. + Communicate complex technical issues to local support, the Degrader Action Cell (DAC), Main Operation Bases (MOBs), and Responsible Engineers (REs). + Support and lead air crew engagement for proper techniques in solving complex analysis of technical problems that arise during operations. + Assist with trend analysis as needed for Responsible Engineers (REs). + Perform/support review and analysis of supplier design data and definition of functional test requirements including acceptance, qualification, and system integration. + Take responsibility for the testing, maintenance, and integration of Comms and Networks equipment to include radio terminals, software loads, switches, routers, and firewalls required to support ground and flight test operations. + Work with system admins, maintainers, and onsite personnel to troubleshoot and repair any internal operational issues. ** The selected candidate will be put on a temporary Domestic Assignment and will report to our San Diego, CA site daily prior to international deployment while clearance(s), Visa(s), and other documents are processing. The employee will go through training in San Diego during this period. ** **The expected timeline before deployment is 3-4 months but this will vary.** Initially, this position will work a 9/80 shift. **As the program matures, the shifts may become 12-hour shifts that could include nights, weekends, and/or holidays.** The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site in Australia. This position requires the ability to **travel up to 50%** of the time once in final location. _This position can be filled at either the Principal Field Service Engineer OR Senior Principal Field Service Engineer level, depending upon the qualifications below._ **Basic Qualifications for Principal Field Service Engineer:** + Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 1 year of related engineering experience. + Ability to obtain and maintain DoD 8140 approved IAT Level II (or higher) compliant certification. This role ensures the proper implementation of design plans, compliance with specifications, accurate tracking and timely project completion. Responsibilities may vary from project to project, but the Field Engineer always works closely with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth construction operations. The following duties listed below are representative of the work to be completed in this role. Additional duties or support will be typical throughout the work to ensure success of the team as a whole. Essential Job Functions Examples: Abide by Company goals and objectives; Safety, Quality, Production and Employee satisfaction. Foster a positive team environment to create a positive work environment. Safety Be an active participant in the Safety Program to ensure a positive safety culture throughout the site. Attend all jobsite safety meetings, as well as completing task appropriate JSAs for work to be performed. Alert on site Safety staff of any concerns immediately to ensure proper communication both for the site and company-wide. Material Procurement Coordinate all field deliveries. Ensure the crews are maintaining neat and orderly storage areas to maximize efficiency. Review material submittals and ensure delivered materials are in compliance with approved submittals. Collect and submit all delivery documentation for stored material billings Complete periodic review of material on site to ensure shortages do not delay production. Job Costing Collect and submit field installation quantity tracking at least daily to ensure up to date LCPR (Labor Cost Productivity Reporting) data. Review LCPR for discrepancies from budget, investigate items not in alignment to evaluate for potential improvements and accuracy. Management Responsibilities Collaborate with designers and other contractors to resolve design or constructability issues. Complete daily reporting and other required reporting promptly. Assist Project Admin/Coordinator with field-related questions. Work closely with Project Management in generation of RFIs, submittals and change orders. Work with Project Manager and Field Supervisor to ensure all testing and quality reporting is completed in a timely fashion. Job Purpose As a core member of the Systems Engineering team, the Lead Electrical Integration Engineer is responsible for architecting, integrating, and validating the low-voltage systems of Canoo's vehicles. This role is an enabler for the cross-functional development of the electrical system between the electrical component design responsible engineers, the system integration engineers, and the test/validation engineers. Success in this role requires an individual who is comfortable both architecting electrical integration solutions behind a computer and bringing electrical systems up live on a vehicle. Responsibilities (80s of the Position) * Define low voltage system logical and wiring architecture from definition to design to test. * Develop expertise with all Canoo vehicle electrical systems and provide analysis from simulation and real-life data gathered on prototype vehicles to optimize and meet or exceed vehicle targets. * Work diligently with cross functional in-house teams to ensure a successful electrical integration of all electrical components on the vehicle. * Perform vehicle troubleshooting, prototype vehicle bring-up, electrical modifications, and * general testing. * Develop documentation for automotive electrical systems * Assist with pre-production vehicle electrical issue management and diagnosis, ensuring that all issues are identified, tracked, root caused, and corrected during all phases of testing. * Communicate issues clearly and constructively to the rest of the organization and use your expertise to recommend corrective actions. Required Experience * Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, vehicle communication systems, vehicle 12V power distribution systems, electronic distribution system design, automotive wire harness design, hardware design, and electronic fundamentals. * Experience with Mentor Graphics electronic design software, or other schematic design tools is highly desirable. * Experience defining, designing, or architecting automotive electrical systems. * BS in a relevant engineering discipline with with 7+ years of EE architecture hardware, or system design experience. * Proficient in creating and reading electrical/wire schematics. * High level of oral and written communication skills. Preferred Experience * Prior experience in an electrical architecture, integration, or hardware design role. * Experience root causing electrical and software related issues. * Experience with CAN tools (Vector or similar). * Experience with prototype vehicles, electric vehicles, motorsports, motorsport electronics, aviation electronics, or heavy vehicles. * Demonstrated high capability hands-on automotive electrical/systems troubleshooting experience. * Familiarity with CAN, LIN, GMSL, Ethernet communication and tools used with them. Travel Requirements * Up to 10% travel depending on program phase.
