Alaska Communications field installation technician job description

Field Technician's duties are to install and maintain all Alaska Communications services, facilities, and products in assigned work areas, remote and non-remote. This is including but is not limited to terrestrial (buried and aerial) Copper and Fiber Optic Plant, Wireless and Microwave towers, facilities such as Remote nodes, Access Points and cross-connects.

Complete service orders, repair orders, capital work orders, and maintenance work.

Complete Line Station Transfers and cuts.

Install and qualify data cabling to the current specifications.

Installs all business and residential station wiring and establishes the demarcation point.

Minimum Qualifications

Visionary Broadband field installation technician job description

  • As the Field Technician/Installer, you will install wireless internet and VOIP at customer locations, both residential and commercial. This includes, but is not limited to, basic router programming, installation of equipment (i.e., dishes, mounts, Cat 5 cabling, etc.), completion of work orders, and other tasks assigned by the VP of Wireless.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Represent Visionary Broadband in a professional manner, emphasizing excellent customer service performing wireless internet installations, repairs, removals, etc.
  • Must be able to physically lift up to 50 pounds
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, is necessary
  • Possess integrity and a dedication to results
  • Maintain professional behavior and proper communication with internal and external contacts, including company and branch employees, managers, and outside vendors.

Qualifications:

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Speaking English is a plus.
• Travel will be required approximately 75% of the time to job-sites in the Southeast, MidAtlantic and Midwest areas.
• Working in a safe manner in a team environment.
• Construction experience as a Installer wall cladding panel installation, sheet metal installation, commercial glazing, carpentry, or other construction related fields.
• Overtime work is required on most projects.
• You must be a self-starter and self-motivated.
• Lifting and handling material weighing up to 100lbs.
• Have attention to detail.
• Installing fasteners through aluminum, concrete, steel, and metal stud framing on a daily basis.
