Candidate Requirements

Job Responsibilities
Perform analytical laboratory work in both the main laboratory located in Columbus, Ohio and in a field-based mobile laboratory environment
Responsible for sample collection of drill cuttings, gas, and liquids while on-site in the field
Perform analysis of samples using multiple laboratory instruments, maintaining the field laboratory and liaising with various on-site and office personnel
Learn and independently operate a range of analytical instrumentation and techniques for gas and liquid analysis in both the main and mobile chemistry laboratories, including gas chromatography, residual gas mass spectrometry, ion chromatography, and proprietary Koloma technologies
Responsible for quality assurance and control of analytical instrumentation and affiliated equipment, including leak checking, analyzing standards and blanks, instrument troubleshooting, and other lab related upkeep and maintenance
Learn and execute procedures supporting data collection, data processing, interpretation, and report generation, while effectively communicating significant data changes to field and laboratory geologists
Provide support for sample preparation and transportation, ensuring sample integrity
Work closely with Field Geologist and mudlogger, providing on-site support

The Role
Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells (PBMC) are critical biological samples within many Moderna Clinical Trials. Moderna has established a harmonized isolation and cryopreservation strategy under continuous improvement for application to clinic trials. In this role, you will join that effort and support CBL non-clinical PBMC efforts that test the feasibility of alternative processing methods and the impact they have on immune profiling or functional cell responses.
Here's What You'll Do
The deliverables include gaining proficiency in Moderna's standard PBMC isolation procedure, and test alternative approaches measuring the impact on cell yield, viability, and recovery.
To measure the impact to downstream applications, you will perform ex vivo stimulation and high-parameter (≥19colors) Intracellular Cytokine Staining (ICS) assays. This assay is an advanced technique that requires handling live cell samples using aseptic technique, precise pipetting, and attention to detail.
You may use the ICS assay or other established assays to screen internal PBMC donors for responses to various antigens. This data will be used by all team members as a reference to choose the best PBMC samples for development experiments.
You will gain a basic understanding of Spectral Cytometry and be trained to use a 5-laser Cytek Aurora and Spectroflo software.
You will be trained to analyze flow cytometry data using FCS Express analysis software.
You will be exposed to the process of designing, planning, and executing experiments with appropriate controls, and tabulating, analyzing, and presenting the results using softwares such as SmartSheet, Excel, GraphPad Prism, and PowerPoint.
Development opportunities include technical (lab) skill improvements, data analysis, data presentation and communication skills, literature review and exploration of potential career paths.

The laboratory work involves dealing with Copper, Aluminum, Titanium, and Superalloys and Steels, Specialty alloys and engineered materials.
To get familiarized with the RAW MATERIALS (like Copper alloys, Aluminum alloys, Titanium alloys, Superalloys, Specialty steels and any other materials that Weldaloy deals with in Ingots, billets, bars etc.) and the customer flowed down requirements for these materials. (Via Purchase orders, Drawings, Specifications, and any other documents).
Operate equipment for sectioning, mounting, and polishing for preparing metallographic samples for the regular standalone mounted samples. Need to also etch the prepared metallographic specimens and develop etching techniques too. The prepared and etched samples are to be examined using optical microscopes and take photomicrographs and make digital pictures of microstructures at different magnifications as required and also affixing the micron markers. Machinist skills and CNC programming experience desirable.
Similar techniques as above need to be used to do microstructures at some specified spots on the forged parts or the raw materials. This is called “in-situ metallography or “Spot metallography” or “Spot microscopy.”
Assess the grain size of the microstructure and understand the microstructures of some standard regular materials.
Required to also prepare samples for Chemical and mechanical testing too.
Multitasking while performing prep work and analysis efficiently.
Work with Engineers and other Managers on projects.
Familiarizing with AMS2750G, pyrometry, NADCAP requirements regarding forge and heat treatment, and laboratory functions.
Raising Corrective Action Reports (CARs), conducting and advising corrections for implementation.
Plan and schedule tests under the supervision of Laboratory Supervisor & Metallurgist.
Ability to learn and operate testing equipment (like chemical, mechanical and metallographic) and perform testing per standard procedures. Record all data and results in a specified manner per instructions from the Laboratory Supervisor & Metallurgist and/or Chemist.
Ability to successfully operate laptop computers for spreadsheets, charts and report writing (Microsoft Office and Outlook).
Maintain laboratory environment in a safe, clean, and orderly manner.
Work with customers on an as-needed basis within the scope of job requirements.
Systematic receipt, labeling and analyzing and maintain identity and traceability of laboratory samples. Safe storage and retrieval of samples as per customer requirements.

The Emergency Services Lab Assistant supports the planning, preparation, maintenance, and safe operation of Emergency Services training labs and scenarios. The role contributes directly to high-quality, hands-on learning experiences that prepare students for success in fire service, emergency medical services, and public safety careers.
Primary Responsibilities

* Prepare, set up, and dismantle training props, materials, and equipment for fire, rescue, and EMS labs.

Pay & Schedule:
Hourly rates targeting: $20.25
These are temporary position where you will be working 40 hours / week.
The schedules shifts will likely be 6 am - 2:30 pm Tues - Sat, with a rotating Monday shift
Sometimes during our busy season, we ask workers if they would be able to work overtime, and stay until the work is complete.
The shifts and hours may vary slightly depending on business needs.

Able to meet the physical requirements that go with working in a lab - standing and sitting for extended periods of time, ability to move or maneuver through various departments around the lab, use of hands, fingers, and arms to handle microscopes, pipettes, lab instruments and controls, occasional need to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, lift up to 25lb, and specific vision ability - close, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
This is a laboratory, so there is potential exposure to biohazards, agents known to cause zoonotic diseases, and hazardous chemicals.
