The Fiber Splicer is responsible for the installation, splicing, and testing of fiber optic cable to support the delivery of high-speed internet and communication services to residential customers. Must know ribbon fiber. Must know fiber to the home. Knowledge required by a Fiber Splicer Telecommunications- Knowledge of transmission and CATV telecommunications systems. Public Safety- Knowledge of keeping the work area safe for the public. Computers and Electronics- Knowledge of electronic equipment and computer hardware/software for keeping proper records. Mechanical- Knowledge of optical splicing equipment like a cleaver, splicer, and bucket truck Work Conditions - Field environment, working in inclement weather; Flexibility of schedule.
