  • Electromechanical Technician

    Arc Boat Company

Field service technician job in Torrance, CA

What we're building Our vision is to electrify all waterborne vessels, and we're starting with electric water sport boats. Gas boats dominate today's marine industry not because of great product offerings but because of a lack of better alternatives. Boaters have grown accustomed to vehicles that feel stuck in the 1980s: unreliable, expensive, loud, noxious, and a nightmare to own and operate. They're also awful for the water and air they reside in. By contrast, electric boats are superior in nearly every way: not only are they far more reliable and less costly to operate, but they're also quieter, quicker, and cleaner, with no fumes or pollutants. However, they've been held back by both the technology and the talent to make them truly competitive with gas alternatives. That's Arc's opportunity. Using modern, aerospace- and automotive-inspired techniques, we're building our hulls, batteries, cooling systems, firmware, and software together to deliver the next generation of watercraft. Who we're looking for We're looking for someone excited by our vision, eager for a challenge, and ready to learn on the job. We pride ourselves on transparency and operate in a lean, high-trust environment where everyone takes ownership of their domain. You will be a full-time member of our Production team, working from our manufacturing facility in Torrance, CA. This role will focus on assembling, testing, and troubleshooting electromechanical systems, while also contributing to process improvements and various production projects. As a startup, we move fast. You'll need to be adaptable, but the following responsibilities and qualifications will remain relatively constant. Core responsibilities Assembling and disassembling electric powertrain systems and instrumentation Advising on the design of assemblies, components, and testing Setting up and utilizing test equipment, including digital multimeters, HIPOT machines, and power supplies Performing component assembly inspections and complete documentation Contributing to improving workshop standards, protocols, and processes Basic qualifications Proficiency using mechanical and electric hand tools Experience in building and troubleshooting electromechanical systems, including electric motors, batteries, sensors, electronics, controls, and pneumatics Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, and product data sheets Ability to: Stand for extended periods (6-10 hours per day) Lift up to 50 lbs. Work extended hours as needed to meet production demands Bonus qualifications High school diploma or GED Prior experience in a fast-paced manufacturing setting Experience with welding, composites, or interiors At Arc, we encourage diversity and consider all qualified applicants equally for employment, regardless of background, identity, or status. You're always welcome to reach out even if you don't meet many of these qualifications. Passion and aptitude make up for a lot. Our values We value these five things above all else: Ownership over both your work and the company's success Empathy for colleagues and for customers Humility in problem solving and collaboration Pragmatism for navigating ambiguity quickly and sensibly Inclusion of different backgrounds, opinions, cultures, etc. We work in an intense but rewarding environment, so it's important that our values align. We'd be happy to elaborate during the interview process. What we offer Talented teammates that challenge you to be better Access and often input to a wide range of business activities An hourly wage between $31.50 - 42.00 A meaningful equity stake An opportunity to have an outsized impact on industry-defining vehicles The ability to drive positive environmental change through your work Nearly free health insurance (we cover 99%) and a 401k Generous parental leave Daily lunches at our office in LA, plenty of snacks, lots of swag, and more Boat rides! Collect GPS coordinates, photos, and detailed field notes for all relevant plant elements. Use mobile field engineering tools, tablets, and software applications for real-time data entry and plan markups. Coordination & Communication Work closely with design engineers, project managers, permitting teams, and construction crews to communicate field conditions and ensure designs reflect real-world constraints. Interface professionally with property owners, municipalities, and third-party utilities (power, telco, cable) as needed for access or technical clarification. Assist in preparing documentation required for permitting, pole-attachment requests, and utility coordination processes. Quality, Compliance, & Safety Ensure all work complies with NESC, local and national codes, Charter (or client) engineering standards, and any jurisdiction-specific guidelines. Identify and report any safety hazards, utility conflicts, or construction risks observed in the field. Maintain high-quality field documentation to support accurate and efficient design, construction, and as-built processes. Additional Responsibilities Validate As-Built drawings by confirming constructed routes, attachment placements, vault installations, and mapping accuracy. Support engineering teams in revising plans based on field findings, scope changes, or client requests. Participate in project kickoff field meetings, site walks, and construction pre-build meetings when needed. Provide occasional on-site technical support to construction crews during build-out.
