Shimadzu Scientific Instruments is seeking a Physical Measurements Service Specialist to join our team and play a key role in providing exceptional service and support for our physical measurement instrumentation. In this position, you will be responsible for a wide range of service-related functions, including the repair, maintenance, installation, and after-hours phone support for Shimadzu products.
JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Provide daily repair, maintenance, calibration and installation support for physical measurement instruments.
Perform in-house bench repairs as needed while primarily handling fieldservice calls with limited supervision.
Travel within the local region and other regions if needed (including day and overnight trips) to support customer needs.
Offer technical support via phone to customers and field personnel regarding repairs, maintenance and installations.
Provide training to customers and internal personnel on proper instrument operation and maintenance.
Accurately document all repairs, product failures, and improvements to ensure compliance with company standards.
Assist in the development and execution of preventative maintenance procedures for instruments.
Maintain and control repair parts inventory in the assigned region.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Material Science, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
At least 1 year of experience (2+ years preferred) in field support of physical measurement instrumentation; UTM, Hardness testers, X-Ray, or similar products.
Strong technical knowledge and understanding of physical measurement instruments such as testing machines, or similar products.
Excellent communication and customer relations skills.
Ability to travel within the assigned territory, including overnight stays as needed.
Ability to troubleshoot complex instrumentation issues and provide effective solutions.

Compensation & Benefits:
This full-time, non-exempt position comes with a comprehensive benefits package. After one year of employment, you will also be eligible for a generous short-term disability program with the company covering 100% of monthly premiums.
The starting salary range for this role is $79,000 to $81,000 annually, paid semi-monthly. As a non-exempt position, you will be eligible for overtime and double time pay, as outlined in our employee handbook. Additional variable compensation includes an incentive plan based on company and service performance, paid semi-annually in April and October. A year-end discretionary bonus may also be awarded based on overall company performance.
This position includes a company car with a fuel card (with a $55 per pay deduction for personal use) and a company-paid cell phone, which remains company property but can be used for personal purposes.

Under general supervision, the Seal Repair Technician is responsible for all processes related to disassembly and assembly of rotating equipment. The Seal Repair Technician follows instruction from a Repair job packet and router to perform DCI (Dismantle Clean and Inspect) and gives a written description of the wear and condition of critical components seal.
This position completes all inspection forms taking pictures of all critical components and uses inspection equipment for proper documentation of the assembly. With assistance identifies, inspects and evaluates material returned, determines repair operations, performs simple shop operations, verify specifications, initiate work and purchase orders.
Receives John Crane parts and materials returned by customers and branch offices. Evaluates from a condition of material, checks current drawing revisions and general product knowledge whether material is repairable or non-repairable.
· Identifies and inspects material returned.
· Ensures all components are properly cleaned and free from foreign material per departmental procedures
· Performs the assembly of the seal once the repair has been released to the shop and all components have been replaced or reconditioned and marked ready for assembly.
· Under close supervision, repairs returned seals and seal parts.
· May perform parts structuring, check cost structure, and determine price of repair, ensures assembly is structured correctly, and price repair.
· Determines necessary repair operations, ensures BOM (bill of materials) / drawings / repair parts match.
· Performs simple operations on drill press (single spindle), tool post grinder, bead blast polisher and lapping machine.
· Verifies part specifications with measuring instruments such as micrometer, vernier caliper, dial indicator and optical flats.
· May initiates purchase orders for new jobs if vendors are involved.
· Consults with Engineering or Sales departments as necessary.
· Maintains necessary records and small inventory of seal parts used for repair orders.
· Works from factory work orders, prints, rework orders and verbal instructions.
· Assists newer repair personnel as necessary.
· Sets up and troubleshoots lapping machines for repair maintenance.
· May perform direct contact with customers on service and/or phone, checks computer system for credit and address information, price repairs.

As an experienced Lead Plumbing ServiceTechnician, you'll interact with our customers directly and solve a variety of plumbing problems. RESPONSIBILITIES FOR A LEAD PLUMBING SERVICETECHNICIAN:
Provide consultation, including solutions, to resolve our customers' plumbing problems
Identify issues related to broken systems sewer lines, kitchen, and bathroom, drain cleaning, water heaters, water leaks, pipe services, water heaters, etc.
Utilize your knowledge and understanding of existing infrastructure (in relation to electrical wiring, etc.)
Determine what needs to be repaired or replaced, and otherwise resolve customers' issues
Install and maintain equipment, parts, and fixtures
Utilize blueprints and drawings, so you must be able to understand layouts and plans
Safely cut, assemble, and install pipes and other fittings
SKILLS FOR A LEAD PLUMBING SERVICETECHNICIAN:
High school diploma or equivalent
3 years of successful plumbing experience including an understanding of both residential and commercial water distribution and disposal systems
Diploma or certificate from a trade school or completion of an apprenticeship
Ability to handle plumbing tools and equipment such as pipe wrenches, pipe cutters, etc.
Valid driver's license
Familiarity with standard industry tools, concepts, practices, and procedures
Good physical condition with the strength and flexibility to work in small or awkward spaces
State plumbing license (Journeyman or Master preferred)
Availability to work a limited, after-hours on-call rotation

Iterate to the project/construction managers detailed accounts of field activity, both verbal and written.

Night work as needed for things like node splits.
Able to be on call for emergencies involving damaged cables.
