Technicians will also help fulfill the needs of the maintenance schedule when needed by performing preventative maintenance on parking access, as well as software and/or hardware. Works with upper-level support to troubleshoot/setup/configure car access systems to include LAN (Local Area Networks). Effectively understands and troubleshoots basic setup of credit card configuration within the PARCS (parking access & revenue control system) network. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform field repairs on parking access system and building access systems, software and/or hardware related Troubleshoot and correct problems on devices/equipment, down to board level, low voltage Correct/fixes; minor to complex software issues on parking/access systems Understand and troubleshoot the entire setup of a SKIDATA network (LAN) Properly identifies all network devices on a LAN (router, modem, switch etc.) Can properly use handheld devices like, but not limited to, multi meter, Network tester, toner, etc. Understand basic relay logic Works with upper-level support to setup/configure firewall, router, and other network devices Provides effective customer service, to internal and external customers Properly identifies when higher level support is needed. Work closely with peers and support team to ensure customer expectations are met Effectively execute troubleshooting instructions from higher level support Properly maintain vehicle status and maintenance, as required Properly maintains his/her inventory levels, by properly transacting in ERP (SNOW) system Communicates effectively with service coordinator, advisors, and service management team Responsible for transactions for assigned work orders (WOs) in ERP system on a per WO basis (parts and labor), also to include maintenance checklist, as required by existing processes Perform monthly preventative maintenance - scheduled inspection, cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting of the equipment Other duties, as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: This is an experienced position within the Service Department. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required: Must be at least 21 years old, with a valid driver's license; have and maintain a driving record clean of any major or numerous violations Must be able to drive to field / customer locations to perform field work Working knowledge of Windows Server 2008/2012/2016, SQL, Windows OS 7, 10 and above, and network firewall configurations Must possess aptitude to learn new technologies The ability to work independently all while keeping others informed of your processes and progress via multiple avenues - including ERP System, email, and/or phone Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel, and PowerPoint Must be able to complete SKIDATA technical certified training courses - within 24 months; or has completed required certified courses in the technical career track. Specific product/equipment and software training supplied by SKIDATA EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent and two (2) years of training/experience in related field required, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Good skills in the use of hand tools required - experience using ERP software a plus. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid Driver's License, in state of residence. The general hours of the position are Monday through Friday (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.); however, the expectations are that you be flexible to work as the needs of the business require. This may require occasional overtime; working on Saturday/weekends; and/or before or after the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Technicians are required to be on an on-call rotation for one week per month. Supervisor will give as much advance notice as possible and try to evenly distribute hours based on business needs among the employees with skills, knowledge and ability for the work that needs to be accomplished. Job Summary The Fiber Technician is a field position that directly works to help maintain and expand the fiber network as well as complete the following tasks along with additional duties as assigned. This position is an hourly position that will require the individual to always possess a valid driver's license, maintain a stellar driving record free from any major offences that may affect Lightpath' s MOD rating. The position is a hands-on labor-intensive job that requires a heavy amount of experience in fiber splicing, equipment installation, troubleshooting and cable placement. The work will take place in but is not limited to buildings, confined space, side of the roadway and aerial locations. This position will require off hours, weekend, and holiday work. In addition to being part of an on-call rotation in support of the network that will require being available during various holidays and weather events. Responsibilities Complete field survey of a path for a new cable to be installed within a building, conduit run or aerial pole path. Capture all the information related to the path using varioustools of technology anddocument in a step-by-step method of procedure, that will be customer facing. Lightpath to provide that form document. Ability to meet with representatives from different municipalities and review proposed projects, file, and submit permit applications, track the application, and follow up on its approval. Be able to communicate with other Lightpath employees to obtain any required information the municipality would request such as bonds and insurance documents or payments. Work directly with our customers in the field, take and perform calls and email to update on project status and share documentation on each project with co-workers. Track new and ongoing projects by maintaining numerous Project Trackers. AttendUtility, Municipal and customer meetings to review and obtain permissions for newly proposed customer projects. Some of these meetings occur after hours and weekends. Some of the meetings are out of State and require extended travel times. Operate a bucket truck and able to work aloft to access splice cases and lashing fiber cable. Install a lashing machine on the strand and lash small sections of fiber to secure the supporting strand. Access confined space locations to audit conduits and place cable or remove splice cases and place in the vehicle to have work completed. These spaces will require a pump to evacuate water and the person to work in a wet and dark environment. Shall possess knowledge of fiber optic filters and CDWM filter splicing and testing. The technician must also be able to operate an EXFO OTDR and 400 gig test set and work with Lightpath or contracted resources to complete fiber and provisioning testing for circuits on an as needed basis. Individuals must be willing to learn and attend continuing ed classes for OTDR, electronic equipment and fiber splicing. The technician must be able to operate a fusion splice machine (single and mass) for fiber optic cables. This work requires a steady hand and the ability to sit ina single location for extended periods of time. The technician must be able to work onladders both 28-foot extension and step up to 8-foot-high step ladders. The technician will also need to cover on-call shifts to support the Lightpath fiber Network. This at times may require working in adverse conditions and on holidays. Requirements Must have excellent follow-through skills, be detail-oriented and be able to develop and manage accurate data in Project Trackers. Ability to travel for short periods of time. College Degree in Engineering, Communications or related field experience preferred. 5+ years' experience in fiber optic construction installation and maintenance. Superb timeline tracking and daily reporting skills on Excel, MS Office, experience with MS VISIO a plus. Excellent customer service skill sets. Job Description MagLev Aero is seeking an electromechanical technician to help build its electric propulsion thruster system prototypes. In this role, you will fabricate and test electromagnetic assemblies, wire harnesses, and mechanical test equipment. You will also perform mechanical and electronics rework, calibrate sensors, and take quality assurance measurements. You will work alongside our engineering team on-site and your craftsmanship will be a key contribution to the success of this project. Location : This is an on-site position at MagLev Aero's office located in Boston's Seaport District. Expected Responsibilities : Create and test wire harnesses in accordance with drawings or detailed descriptions. Assemble, rework, and test printed circuit boards from a schematic. Wind and pot coils and other electromagnetic assemblies from drawings. Refine existing processes for better throughput or superior performance. Assemble electro-mechanical test fixtures and test articles. Perform quality measurements on parts and systems. Qualifications Desired Skills : Prior experience building harnesses: stripping, crimping, and bundling. Prior experience winding coils desirable. Prior soldering experience. Experience with hot air tools is desirable. Comfortable using basic electrical test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, isolation testers) in a prototyping environment. Able to understand electrical schematics and mechanical drawings. Experience with 3D drafting tools (e.g. Solidworks, Fusion, NX) is a plus, as is electrical drafting (e.g. OrCAD, Altium, VeSys, Solidworks Electrical) Comfortable around high voltage, electrical power systems, and chemical solvents. Prior high voltage experience is desirable but not required. Attention to detail. Able to make precise measurements using calipers and micrometers. Able to lift at least twenty-five pounds and stand for periods of 30 minutes. Proficient with hand and power tools. Familiar with basic machine shop tools (e.g. band saw, drill press). Experience with lathes/machining (CNC) is desirable but not required. Experience with 3D printing is desirable. Able to work independently from a set of tasks. Interested in process improvement. A few years of hands-on experience in a related area (aerospace, automotive, job shop, university lab) is desirable.
