We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic individual for a FieldTechnician to assist in overseeing noise, and vibration, pre-construction photo-documentation, and geotechnical instrumentation projects in the Honolulu area. This is a part-time / on-call position.
Noise and Vibration Monitoring: Conduct field measurements and assessments related to noise and vibration in urban environments.
Pre-construction Photo Documentation: Document interior and exterior conditions of the buildings and properties.
Geotechnical Instrumentation Oversight: Assist in the installation, monitoring, and maintenance of geotechnical instrumentation systems. Work closely with senior technicians to ensure accurate data collection and analysis.
Noise and Vibration Monitoring Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the team to implement mitigation strategies when necessary.
Performs Installations, Transportation and Demobilizations of noise and vibration equipment
Data Analysis and Reporting: Collect and analyze data from instrumentation, noise, and vibration monitoring.
Prepare comprehensive reports summarizing findings and recommendations.
Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure project objectives are met.
Communicate effectively with stakeholders and clients as needed.
Health and Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines during field activities.
Contribute to maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
Pre-Construction Photo-Documentation:
Document interior and exterior conditions of the buildings and properties.
Document the condition of the street along the alignment such, but not limited to; sidewalks, curbs, gutter, pavement, retaining walls, overpasses, etc.
Prepare a survey report. Reports shall include Photographs, narrative Video tapes for all conditions, deficiencies, and observations. In addition to that a handwritten explanation and notes.
Prepare inspection reports.
Geotechnical Instrumentation Responsibilities:
Performs Installations, Transportation and Demobilizations of geotechnical equipment. Supervise subcontractors such as saw cutting, drilling and traffic control. In some projects, the area is surrounded by construction heavy equipment, excavations, tunnels, and or active construction sites that require safety training that ALL construction workers for the General Contractor are required to take.
Employee is required to transport materials in a construction site as well as install instruments on poles, rooftops, bridges, and tunnels. Specialized tools are required to perform the role in the field and the ability to mount equipment using ladders and equipment (manlifts) is required. The use of these tools requires safety training to avoid injury and or death.
Qualifications:
Currently enrolled and or completed in a relevant degree program (geotechnical engineering, environmental science, civil engineering, etc.) - (Preferred but not required)
Strong interest in geotechnical instrumentation, noise, and vibration monitoring.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work in an outdoor field environment.
Basic understanding of relevant instrumentation tools and software is a plus.
OSHA 10-hrs. (Training can be provided)

Overview
The Field Performance Technicians are responsible for the management, scheduling, and completion of all service and warranty related work. The FieldService / Field Performance Technician must have the ability to work both independently and as a member of the Performance O&M team. This position will interact closely with the customers, Branch Manager, the Senior Electrical Foreman, Construction Supervisor and the centralized scheduling FieldService Team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Organize, lead, and maintain the warranty and service schedule.
Work with the Electrical Foreman, Construction Supervisor and the Branch Manager to allocate labor resources to service and warranty projects as needed
Assist with training and development for FieldServiceTechnicians and Field Communications Technicians.
Lead regular meetings to align and train the local fieldservice team on best practices
Support the on-boarding and training of new members of the field performance team
Regularly exceed defined goals for field performance key performance indicators including but not limited to turnaround time, experience rating and average dispatches completed
Assist with other tasks including inspections and site audits when assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
1 - 3 years of previous field construction or solar experience required
PV design or PV electrical experience is preferred
High School diploma is required
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS (include where appropriate)
Must maintain a clean driving record with the ability to pass a driving background check. Must be 21 years of age and possess a valid driver's license.
Valid state or local Electrical Journeyman certification or license preferred. Depending on state requirements an Electrical Journeyman certification or license may be required

Job Details:
This is a 1099/per call position
Pay is based solely on the number of calls completed.
Calls are paid at a flat rate of $50 per call
Pay period: Every Friday after the first week worked
Tickets are run Monday-Friday during the day shift. Candidates must be regularly available a minimum of 3 weekdays to be considered.
Call volume is variable but is usually 2-5 calls per day
You will complete certifications from Dell and Lenovo as part of your onboarding. Certifications are online and free to you.
You must have a reliable form of transportation and a valid driver's license to run these calls. You will be visiting multiple work sites throughout your day.
You must have access to a computer and the Internet to log onto your portal each day.
You must be available to log into your tech portal each morning you are working by 9 am to code your calls and map out your route for the day.
The manufacturer has completed troubleshooting and shipped a part prior to your ticket being issued to you.
You will confirm service times with the customer in your tech portal. Services will be completed at the customer site (residential and commercial)
You will pick up parts daily from the assigned Fed Ex or UPS store for your territory before going onsite. Once all calls are completed for the day drop off the old parts with the pre-paid label that is provided.

Experienced with splicing Fiber Optic Cable, up to and including 3,456 fiber count by means of fusion splicing with heat shrink protection.
Be able to perform mass (ribbon) or single (loose tube) splicing utilizing fusing splicing.

Familiar with the installation of fiber sleeve, wipes, cable tags and tie wraps
Management of the installation of conduit, risers, cable trays or cable ladders.
Ensuring installations comply with applicable codes such as ANSI/TIA/EIA 588-B Commercial Building Telecommunication Cabling Standard, the National Electrical Safety Code and other applicable local and national codes concerned with quality and safety.
Keeping company informed on progress of the Splicing portion of the project. Communicating and coordinating with customer and company related to specific safety, local code and company installation requirements.
Assisting in proposal development and project preparation activities.
Completing site surveys to verify site construction diagrams, determination of site installation materials (specifically splicing materials), verify site installation/construction scope and extent of work fiber optic installations. Report findings to the appropriate staff.
Ensure that Splicing and other Fiber test equipment is maintained in accordance with the equipment manufacturers recommended procedures or customers procedures.
Conduct OTDR and/or Power Measurement testing (as per customers procedures) on Fiber Optic Cable reels in the case where it is suspected that the Fiber Optic may have been damaged in transit.
Assist with development of project schedules and materials selection.
Accurately reports status, material usage, and expenses.
Update customer prints, documentation, and facilitates document storage.
Assisting in warehouse maintenance and inventory.
Responsible for general organization of truck and cleanliness of truck both in and out.

Experience:
Approximately 18 months gas service work experience, not less then one year of which must have been in the repair and servicing of gas equipment/appliances/controls: these experience requirements may be reduced at management's discretion based on need and for the individual who demonstrates exceptional ability and skills to perform the duties of ServiceTechnician III.
Must have demonstrated ability to effectively perform the work requirements and to deal tactfully and courteously with customers.
Must be a safe and competent driver, cognizant of all traffic laws and have a clean traffic abstract.
Possesses working knowledge of departmental operating rules and procedures, pertinent codes (such as NFPA #58 and #59) regulations, standards and safety rules/regulations/practices in addition to standard practices and procedures for this trade.
Proficient in the proper use of the tools, materials, and equipment of the trade and have a good safety record; ability to use computer.

Under the general supervision of the General Manager, receives work assignments and instructions from the Operations Manager, Operations Superintendent, Operations Supervisor or Leadman/Foreman, as well as service requirements from the Office staff.

Occasionally has a helper; instructs helper/trainee in proper methods, procedures, etc. and ensures adherence to safety rules and practices.
Explanatory Remarks:
Employees in the ServiceTechnician III classification are essentially trouble shooters, and most assignments are referred to as “first calls.” They effect immediate repairs or repairs of a non-complex nature and where necessary, temporary repairs or adjustments. At this level emphasis is placed upon acquiring greater knowledge of the basic techniques of the trade. Occasionally, the incumbent may be given assignments of higher level in order that he/she may gain experience and knowledge of the more difficult operations. The chief distinguishing feature between this position and the
work performed by the ServiceTechnician II is in the degree of complexity and difficulty of the service cases involved which generally can be performed effectively, efficiently, and safely through education and experience on the job. Aside from the qualifications noted in the job specifications above, progression to ServiceTechnician II is also contingent upon vacancy.

Position Scope
* Load and unload tools, equipment, materials, and other items from trucks, carts, forklifts, and trailers. This includes rolling out at the beginning of a shift and rolling up at the end of a shift. Includes cleaning up job sites and keeping shop area clean and organized.
* Provides general labor assistance to workers. This work may include but is not limited to digging, sweeping, cutting materials, measuring, or other trade related work. Works with basic hand tools and power tools as instructed by supervisor.
* Works with hand tools and small equipment such as power washers, airless sprayers, compressors, line trimmers, blowers, mowers, etc. as directed by supervisor.
