Subsequently develop and integrate solutions for the network connectivity and interaction of systems. Analyze customer requirements and support the development of integrated IT and network solutions within a complex, large-scale government facility. Participate in the full life cycle of network system development-from conceptual design through integration, testing, and enhancement. Collaborate with software architects, systems engineers, and other technical stakeholders to conduct system analyses, requirements decomposition, and performance trade studies. Install, terminate, test, label, and maintain structured cabling (fiber and copper) following industry standards and government facility requirements. Perform cable splicing, patch panel work, cable management, and rack/closet organization to maintain clean and compliant infrastructure. Execute Layer 1 and Layer 2 network tasks, including switchport assignment, VLAN configuration, and basic device provisioning. Primary Duties PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES Interpreting and understanding internal/external engineering construction plans including specifications, materials, plot plans, line and grade plans, cross section details, job construction details, and to create a composite construction plan from sketched information and data using field instruments and measuring devices. Understanding NESC, Company Safety Rules, or any other Safety Regulations (Local, State, or National) that are applicable. Having a comprehensive working knowledge of company mapping and records, budgeting and accounting systems. Conducts meetings with customers to ensure understanding of work to be performed by both customer and company. Design and develop construction plans for all job types using all applicable company corporate computer systems. a. Responsible for the input of graphical designs in the applicable company Graphical Work Design System. b. Responsible for input of design information into the applicable company work management system. c. Develops material requisitions and determines construction hours to perform work. Preparing cost estimates, construction plans, job or work orders, specifications, lists of materials and schedules for assigned jobs. Preparing other forms or drawings to acquire rights of way, permissions or coordination with other utilities, agencies or customers that may be needed to successfully complete a job. Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Associate's degree in engineering, Engineering Technology, CAD, or related field or two years college engineering course work or the equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. In lieu of the requirements listed above, employees will be considered qualified if they have 10 years of field work experience in some phase of electric or gas distribution, construction or maintenance work, or a Lineperson with eight (8) years of Line experience will be considered qualified for the position. Must possess a valid driver's license. Must successfully pass qualification tests. Employee must be able to pass test prior to Company awarding job. Employee must be able to pass a qualifying test at the end of six months and must be able to pass progression tests at the end of one and one-half years, two and one-half years and three and one-half years. Failure to pass a progression test will require remaining at the existing step level with employee eligible for retesting within six months. Failure to pass the test a second time will result in the employee being reassigned as follows: - An employee promoted or transferred into this classification shall be reassigned as if he had failed to meet the job requirements as addressed under Article 3, Section 5(b). - An employee hired into this classification (not promoted or transferred) shall be placed in an existing bargaining unit position vacancy at any location for which the Company deems he is qualified, unless during a thirty (30) day period the employee is awarded another position through the bidding process.
