They are dispatched through the service office and typically work with little supervision. Crusher Heavy Equipment Field Service Technician/Mechanic Essential Functions Diagnoses and evaluates problems with mobile crusher equipment and makes repairs using established guidelines in accordance with established flat rates Models safe work habits and abides by all safety policies and procedures at all times Keeps rework within established guidelines Works effectively without close supervision Makes overnight stays on or near job sites when required Completes required paperwork efficiently and timely Attends factory and other training as specified by the supervisor Maintains service truck in good working condition and keeps it clean Exhibits a professional demeanor at all times with customers, managers, and colleagues Promotes goodwill with customers and exhibits excellent customer relations behaviors Performs other assignments as requested by the manager Crusher Heavy Equipment Field Service Technician/Mechanic Qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalent Two (2) years of continuous experience in diagnosing and repairing construction equipment Ability to read complex hydraulic and electrical schematics Furnishes and maintains a set of hand tools and any special tools required by the company Maintains a valid driver’s license Ability to travel weekends and late nights Crusher Heavy Equipment Field Service Technician/Mechanic Physical Requirements Pushing/Pulling/Lifting/Carrying up to 100 pounds without assistance Physical ability to squat, twist, turn, bend, stoop, climb, and reach overhead Must be able to work in extreme heat or cold and wet, damp, dusty, or windy conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noises, hazardous materials, and fumes/odors Physical ability to perform maintenance on equipment for extended hours with continual mounting and dismounting throughout the workday Ability to adhere to personal protective equipment (PPE) policy and maintain individual PPE in functional condition This is considered a Safety-Sensitive position. The Engine Field Technician I is responsible for providing high quality repair service on equipment, in order to respond to customer needs in a positive, caring and timely manner and to ensure maximum value for work performed. DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES? WHAT YOU'LL DO * Complete assigned jobs and task to meet flat rate times and re-do metric. * Complete related paperwork and access databases required to complete job (work order, parts order, JSA, DBS, SIMS, SIS web, STW) accurately and timely. * Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components, clean and inspect assemblies with minimal supervision. * Timely parts and core returns with appropriate documentation. * Perform warranty downloads of ECM. * Diagnose and troubleshoot problems, give recommendations for repairs and make all critical engine repairs and adjustments. * Test and verify correct operation of all repairs and adjustments. * Apply general failure analysis and procedures to determine proper diagnosis. * Perform engine and component rebuild with limited supervision. * Accurate and timely service reports and timecards daily WHAT YOU'LL NEED * High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. * Proficient use of basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools and instruments, lap tops, diagnostic software and cranes and rigging equipment. * Specific CAT product knowledge of gas, diesel, electrical, electronic, and mechanical and components. * Knowledge of database software, internet software, manufacturing software and order processing systems. * Ability to provide accurate quotes. * Flexibility to work various schedules including shift work, required overtime and on call Physical Demands.
