Accurately and neatly gather field data using paper drawings, forms, electronic data collection devices, digital cameras, or other formats and/or devices specified by the project manager and/or client.

Quickly learn and apply technology tools such as hand-held data collection units, laser range finders, digital cameras, and GPS receivers.

Incumbent may be required to assist in power restoration efforts in natural disaster events (eg: driver, wire sitter, runner)

Education:
Must have a high school education or GED.
Work Experience:
Four years of practical experience in the Automotive, Diesel, or D/C Electrical related field (i.e. transmissions, engines, hydraulics or electronics.).
Physical:
Must be able to daily and repeatedly stoop, kneel, bend and climb beside, onto and underneath various equipment to perform diagnosis and repairs. Must be able to effectively see to perform repairs, research technical manuals, and develop written repair work order reports. Must be able to routinely and physically lift/position various parts to perform repairs/service and manually handle parts up to 95 pounds, as well as use mechanical hoist for heavier parts.
Other:
Must be able to effectively write repair activities on customer work orders. Must have cognitive reasoning and problem solving skills to apply knowledge, written information and verbal instructions in repairing/servicing unusual and/or unknown technical equipment operational problems. Should have exposure to P.C. base equipment and parts information; Can work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to effectively communicate promoting good customer service.
Field Activity- Must be able to daily operate an assigned service vehicle as well as be prequalified to operate under GPEC Fleet Policy Standards. The driver must be able to operate their assigned vehicle for extended periods in order to reach customer's locations. Must be able to effectively communicate using telephones to receive instructions and to provide service information. Must be able to effectively deal directly with customers at site locations in a professional manner.
Additional: Field activities require a valid state driver's license (obtain within 30 days of hire a valid license within the state of GPLS's operation) AND possess a safe driving record which meets the safe driving standards outlined in the GPEC Fleet Policy. Operation of some vehicles will require a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), others may require that the driver possess a DOT medical certification. Some positions may require that you obtain a DOT medical certification before you are considered for the position. Position Summary
In this role, we are onsite almost all the time with clients, mostly in the Roanoke Virginia area. If not onsite at a client location, you would be at the Roanoke office. You will need to be good with time documentation and management and enjoy solving all challenges for our clients, from a simple password reset to as complicated as a major outage.
We typically work around 40 hours per week, although sometimes we work longer and later. (In IT support, things can go crazy, and we must work late sometimes.) Our office support hours are 8am until 5pm. I would be lying if I said those were cushy hours playing World of Warcraft or X-Box.
Each of our technicians takes turns being on call after hours for about one week every six weeks. It's not always a favorite, but it comes with the territory, and our number one priority is taking care of our clients.
Qualifications and Skills
· Minimum 2 years of experience in Microsoft Windows 10 and Apple OS
· Basic networking experience (DHCP, TC/IP, Tracert etc..)
· Experience with setup and configuration, of Office365
· Experience with supporting iPad and other IOS devices
· Experience in supporting and repairing laptops, Dell laptops a plus.
· Outstanding client communication and troubleshooting skills
· Detail orientation and the discipline to do proper documentation and keep track of billable time. (This is really important. Again, this is really important.)

Education:
Must have a high school education or GED.
Work Experience:
Six years of experience with at least two years of experience on Hyster, Yale, Clark or other similar equipment; Must be proficient in at least two mechanical systems (i.e. transmissions, engines, hydraulics, etc.) for numerous model lines.
Physical:
Must be able to daily and repeatedly stoop, kneel, bend and climb beside, onto and underneath various equipment to perform diagnosis and repairs. Must be able to effectively see to perform repairs, research technical manuals, and develop written repair work order reports. Must be able to routinely and physically lift/position various parts to perform repairs/service and manually handle parts up to 95 pounds, as well as use mechanical hoist for heavier parts.
Other:
Must be able to effectively write repair activities on customer work orders. Must have cognitive reasoning and problem solving skills to apply knowledge, written information and verbal instructions in repairing/servicing unusual and/or unknown technical equipment operational problems. Should have exposure to P.C. base equipment and parts information; Can work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to effectively communicate promoting good customer service.
Field Activity- Must be able to daily operate an assigned service vehicle as well as be prequalified to operate under GPEC Fleet Policy Standards. The driver must be able to operate their assigned vehicle for extended periods in order to reach customer's locations. Must be able to effectively communicate using telephones to receive instructions and to provide service information. Must be able to effectively deal directly with customers at site locations in a professional manner.
