The Field Service Technician is responsible for providing best-in-class service and support for TARGAN's broiler hatchery customers, both on-site in Oregon and remote for other hatchery locations in the U.S. This position should possess the skills necessary to maintain, repair, test, diagnose, troubleshoot, and debug electro-mechanical chick sexing, vaccination and other integrated automated systems. Working independently and collaboratively with others, this position plays an integral role in executing CPI's mission, philosophy, and commitment to providing safe, reliable electricity to our members and exceptional service to our internal and external customers. The Field Engineering Tech II designs and stakes new and revised electrical services for members, designs and stakes revisions and replacements of electrical facilities as part of CPI's ongoing system maintenance, and inspects electrical facilities to ensure compliance with relevant standards and codes. Essential Functions of the Position: The essential functions of this position require prioritizing and completing all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner, adjusting for changing priorities and availability of resources, and demonstrating initiative in identifying additional job-related tasks to be completed when time permits. Design and stake system improvements, upgrades, modifications, new power line extensions and revisions, and pole replacements. Prepare cost estimates for distribution, single and three phase, overhead and underground construction, maintenance and system improvement projects. Inspect overhead, underground and member facilities as necessary to ensure compliance with NESC, joint use agreements, and CPI maintenance and construction standards. Make and maintain contact with members, licensees and property owners in the field and in the office as necessary to develop solutions that meet cooperative needs while providing exceptional customer service and support. Visit work sites to inspect trenches and ensure completion of work necessary for construction of electrical facilities. Work with relevant parties to ensure necessary permit and easement acquisition. Schedule and direct pre-construction meetings with members, contractors, and other staff. Maintain and improve the accuracy of Graphical Information System (GIS) mapping and facilities records through as-built entry and correction of existing data, using computerized staking, mapping and database applications. Complete peer review of design work completed by other FET II(s) and mentor FET 1(s) and trainees when working together on projects. Confer with members of the engineering team, line crews and other personnel to resolve line construction challenges and ensure successful and timely completion of projects. Position Requirements: Qualified candidates for this position will have relevant education and experience necessary to perform the essential functions and meet the minimum performance expectations for this position. Required Education and Experience Minimum high school diploma or GED and vocational or technical training in surveying, CAD or GIS or related field; or any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Minimum four years work experience as Field Field Engineering Technician I including two years' work experience staking line. Completion of two year Engineer or Line Staking Program or any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. (Typical education would include an AA degree from an accredited college, university, or equivalent with appropriate technical coursework. Typical experience would include 5 years relevant experience in the electrical utility transmission and distribution field with two years in electric estimating/design, or a related field.)
