POSITION SUMMARY: The Field Laborer position involves hands-on, physically demanding work in outdoor environments across varied terrain and weather conditions. The Field Laborer works as part of a team performing a wide range of field tasks that support the harvest, maintenance, and overall care of macadamia orchards.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Perform general field labor duties across all areas of orchard operations as assigned.
Assist in tree maintenance including pruning, pulling limbs, and clearing debris.
Pick and collect macadamia nuts, load bags, and transport them to the husker station.

Examines fabric for holes or stains. Sorts textiles to determine quality and price or if item goes to As-Is, bale, or dump if appropriate
For non-clothing items, scans items for defects such as cracks, rust, broken or missing pieces, stains, and if item is operational. Sort and price item accordingly. Cleans item as needed.
Hangs, tags, and prices textile and non-textile items.
Works at different work stations as production needs require or stocking as needs arises.
Must meet the following production standards:
• Grade and sort 2.5 carts or 486 units per hour with an error rate of less than 5%.
• Complete (sort, hang, tag) ½ of a rack of clothing per hour or complete (sort, price) 4 totes of non-textile items per hour.
Conducts work in a safe and responsible manner utilizing protective clothing and equipment and complies with safety standards.
Responsible for awareness of and adherence to all company and safety policies and procedures.

+ Performs a variety of warehouse duties such as pulling/assembling customer orders, checking outbound orders for accuracy/completeness, inventory stock checks, restocking and labeling vendor products, maintaining displays (tools, caulk, etc.), moving, storing, and replenishing material, and conduct daily cycle counts.
+ Performs receiving duties such as receiving and unloading inbound material, processing inbound shipments and stock material, processing customer returns, and notifying management of damaged shipments for freight claims.
+ Operates forklift equipment.
+ Maintains clean and organized facility by sweeping, trash removal, restroom, general office maintenance, etc.
+ May wait on customers and prepare sales slips.
+ Maintains a safe working environment by obeying all safety rules outlined in the Safety Program and reporting all accidents, unsafe conditions, and acts to Management.
+ Performs other related duties as required.
**Experience and Knowledge Required:**
+ High School diploma or equivalent experience.
+ Certified Forklift Operator.
+ 3+ years of previous warehouse experience preferred.
**Competencies:**
+ Basic math skills, organization skills, customer service skills, fluency in English, detail-oriented, and safety-conscious.

Job Description
Join our thriving organic farm in Haiku, Hawaii, dedicated to sustainable practices and the cultivation of nutrient-rich soil and animal welfare. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated entry-level farm worker who has a passion and love for animals, including black soldier fly larvae (BSF) and a commitment to organic farming methods. BSF do not bite or eat food. When they hatch from larvae, they spend their time reproducing. Here at Hale Akua Garden Farm, we also raise chickens, ducks, fish and goats . We also grow moringa, Tongan spinach, ketuk and Tumeric as well as other crops. We also grow plenty of bananas, citrus, sour sop, surinam cherries , poha berries and other fruit.
- Adherence and willingness to learn current farm SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)
- Assist in the cultivation and breeding of black soldier fly larvae.
- Tracking Data collection of BSFL harvests, feeding, and breeding for facility R&D purposes.
- Participate in composting activities, ensuring proper management of organic materials.
- Perform hands-on farm labor, including forking, planting, harvesting, weeding, and maintaining various crops.
- Help with daily farm operations and tasks as assigned by the farm manager or relevant supervisor.
- Monitor and care for BSF colonies and broods, ensuring optimal conditions for growth and reproduction.
- Collaborate with team members to promote healthy ecosystems and sustainable practices.
-Involvement with our fish, chicken and goats is also possible if you want to expand your hours.
Requirements
- Previous experience with insect cultivation, especially black soldier fly larvae, is highly desired.
- Comfort and familiarity with composting processes and organic waste management.
- A genuine love for insects and a willingness to learn more about their role in agriculture.
- Desire and passion for organic agriculture and closed loop systems, and a drive to create a farming environment in which livestock, garden, and insects work symbiotically.
- Basic computer skills, ability to input data into an iPad/Computer
- Strong physical stamina and ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Team player with good communication skills and a positive attitude.
- Interest in sustainable agriculture and organic farming practices.
