Pie field worker job description

P.I.E. Management is a local staffing agency that is seeking Field Worker (Invasive Species) in Vancouver, WA. This ecological land services seasonal position will go in duration until the end of December 2022.

Duties:

Assisting with inspection of county public and private lands to actively detect noxious weed infestations (native and ornamental) and to provide field control of those species. This position includes collection: mapping, maintaining data on noxious weed infestations using GPS, IPad with Collector, Survey 123, and a combination of applying a herbicide application. Employees will be working in all weather conditions. This position involves working in an outdoor environment with exposure to chemicals, pollen, insects, water and bees.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the surveying and control of noxious weeds while ensuring compliance with WA State regulations.
  • Prepare reports of weed infestations as identified through field inspections.
  • Applying herbicide and operating equipment such as GPS, watercraft, backpack sprayers, ATV and machetes.
  • Ability to perform related duties as assigned by the Vegetation Management Field Inspector or Lead Coordinator

Requirements:

  • Experience in plant identification (native and ornamental).
  • Ability to stand and walk for 8-10 hour shifts.
  • Must be able to carry a 40 lb. backpack sprayer of herbicide mix.
  • Must be comfortable working in a outdoor remote setting.
  • Preferred - Restoration planting and landscape maintenance experience.
  • ATV and kayak experience preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite programs/ArcGIS experience is helpful.
  • Possession of a current Washington State Herbicide Applicator's license or the ability to obtain one within thirty days.
  • Pay Rate: DOE (Increase in wages after WA State Herbicide Applicator Licensing is obtained in 30 days).
  • Ability to successfully pass a Drug Test and Background Check.
  • Must have a Valid Driver's License.
  • Must be 18 years old in age.
