Job Description Reports to: Supervisor and Maintenance Manager Union shop - 2nd or 3rd shift PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: Repairs and performs maintenance tasks on battery powered pallet jacks, forklifts and narrow aisle high lifts. Repair building hardware and interiors. Install and repair rack systems. Will be required to learn basic and safe operations of facility systems i.e. sprinkler system, fire alarms, building automation and ammonia refrigeration system. Will be assigned tasks, which will require the ability to identify and solve problems with building systems and equipment in a safe and timely manner. Will be required to perform a wide range of activities ranging from but not limited to carpentry, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and metal fabrication work. EDUCATION AND JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must have a High School diploma or equivalent. Should have a minimum or 5 yrs. experience as a maintenance mechanic. Should have a basic understanding of electrical circuits, hydraulic circuits, mechanical systems and engine repairs. Must have a working knowledge of safe maintenance repair practices. Must have a basic understanding of a Maintenance Department's organization and planning. FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS: A physically demanding position requiring heavy lifting and carrying (50-100 lbs.). The ability to stand continuously is essential with occasional walking and sitting. The nature of this position will require employee to perform a wide range of physical activities ranging from pushing and pulling heavy objects (50-100 lbs.) to crouching, kneeling, bending and handling. Repetitive finger motions are also required. Must be willing and able to work in hot and cold environments. Willing and able to work overtime as needed. SAMPLE LIST OF DAILY TASKS AND DUTIES: Work must be performed in a safe and efficient manner. This list is an example of tasks. Assigned work is not limited by this list. 1. Repair Sloan flush and sink valves. 2. Install paper towel dispensers, mirrors, cabinets etc. 3. Complete documentation of daily work and parts use. 4. Unclog drains and toilets. 5. Replace spent batteries in pallet jacks and forklifts using crane or multi-shifter battery changer. 6. Service battery fleet by adding water, cleaning, changing terminal ends. 7. Identify and correct fire hazards like blocked exits, damaged fire extinguishers. 8. Troubleshoot and identify mechanical, electrical and hydraulic problems with battery powered forklifts and pallet jacks. 9. Troubleshoot and identify mechanical, electrical and engine problems with walk behind and ride on sanitation equipment. 10. Repair pallet jacks by replacing load wheels, drive wheels, lift pumps, and control components. 11. Repair high lifts by replacing load wheels, drive wheels, lift pumps, and control components. 12. Interact professionally with office staff. Moving office furniture, Setting up conference rooms and offices. 13. Repair dock plate / lock mechanical problems. 14. Troubleshoot and repair dock plate / lock controls problems. 15. Raise fire doors and set trip device properly. 16. Safely and correctly respond to ammonia refrigeration plant operational problems i.e. restart plant after shutdown, changing pressure and temperature settings to adjust for climate changes, manage coil operation to control liquid levels. 17. Perform maintenance task on ammonia refrigeration system changing filters, changing oil, cleaning strainers. 18. Respond and resolve problems or troubles with fire alarm and sprinkler system. 19. Adjust timers and temperature settings on Building Automation Systems. 20. Identify and repairs problems with salvage building trailer wash systems. 21. Identify and repairs problems with truck wash systems. 22. Fabricate rack parts or fixtures by cutting, grinding and welding metal stock. 23. Construct or repair rack systems by installing load beds, slide bars and uprights. 24. Fix netting of racks by installing clips and repairing cables. 25. Troubleshoot and identify and repair mechanical, electrical problems on Hi-Speed RYTEC doors 26. Troubleshoot and identify and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic problems on multi-shifter battery changer

The Greene Company (TGC) is a family-owned business located in western Rhode Island dedicated to the stewardship of natural and cultural resources of the land, consisting of about 2000 acres of forest, farm and open space. As a Grower-Owner for the Ocean Spray Company Cranberry Cooperative, TGC has been farming over 100 acres of cranberry bogs for the last 50 years. This is an entry level position with opportunities to grow. The full-time Farm Worker is a member of a team including the Farm Manager, the Farm Foreman and several seasonal or part time laborers. The Greene Company Full Time Farm Worker performs a variety work under the direction of the Farm Manager and the Farm Foreman. The work consists of but is not limited to the following: Manual labor including but not limited to weeding, raking, spreading fertilizer, picking up brush, painting. Operating small power equipment such as weed trimmers, leaf blowers and chainsaws. Operating tractors and other motorized vehicles and equipment. Applying herbicides under the direction of the Farm Manager and the Farm Foreman. Harvesting cranberries which involves working in hip boots while working in the flooded bogs. Assist with overnight frost protection. Following all applicable food safety, equipment safety and other work rules mandated by Federal, State and Greene Company rules and regulations. Forest and trail maintenance work along with general home and property maintenance. Work hours are generally Monday to Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm with a thirty-minute unpaid lunch but the hours may vary due to weather and harvest and project schedules. As much notice as possible is given but at times there will be limited notice to work schedule changes. Arrive on time to get assignment for the day and have all the gear (clothing & equipment) ready for the work day to start. Team Member Expectations: Punctuality - To come each day on time to assist with any work needed on the farm. Communication - be respectful of other team members and supervisors and work in a cooperative manner to successfully accomplish the work. Flexibility - respond to routine and emergency calls (weather related) where assistance is needed to protect the crop and farm property. Accountability- To proactively learn and contribute to the necessary work to grow high quality cranberries including irrigation, weeding, harvesting, frost protection and routine agricultural maintenance. Minimum Qualifications: Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Required to work weekends and nights when needed for projects and frost protection. During harvest, which runs from mid-September through the first week of November, work hours will include weekends. Must be able to work in various weather conditions which include rain, snow and summer conditions. Must be able to operate small power equipment and be able to learn to operate tractors and other equipment. Must be able to pass all mandated training as required by the Farm Manager. Must have the ability to physically lift up to 50 pounds. Must pass a standard background (BCI Check) and pre employment physical. Additional helpful qualifications: hoisting license, pesticide license and Commercial Drivers License. Wage, Salary & Benefit Description: Housing option available.
