This individual will work with our teams in assisting our clients in fully leveraging Colleague feature and functionality in the Financial Aid area. The ideal candidate will have expertise in process and system reviews and implementations within higher education in Financial Aid . This position requires experience in the Financial Aid operations and implementing the recommendation in the Financial Aid module.

Description of Position

Start Salary Hiring Range :$17.55 to $22.74

Advise students/parents on financial aid funding options and evaluate eligibility for federal, state, and institutional funds while maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations. Support YC objectives by providing the financial resources to allow students to be successful.

* Review students financial aid files to determine eligibility for federal, state and institutional aid. Analyze tax and other income related documents to complete verification in compliance with federal regulations to award aid including grant programs ( ACPE, EGSG, SLEAP, ACAAP)
* Exercise professional judgment in evaluating and processing Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), Budget/Contribution, and dependent status appeals to reevaluate eligibility based on extenuating circumstances within the Department of Education guidelines
* Download student financial aid applications (FAFSA) from the Department of Education and submit changes/corrections
* Performs work in one of the following areas: Federal Work Study/student employment, tribal verification, Veteran's Administration, YC athletics or cohort default rate

Minimum Expectations & Requirements

* Associates Degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field and two years experience at the technician level or above in a financial aid office at a post secondary educational institution OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job

Galen College is looking for a Financial Aid Advisor for the Virtual Campus team to provide information, guidance, and assistance regarding various types of financial assistance, including, but not limited to Federal Financial Aid, to facilitate the enrollment, persistence, and completion of students, consistent with the College's mission. The ideal candidate for this position would have strong customer service experience.

Financial Aid Advisor Responsibilities:

* Assist and guide active students throughout their program:
* Contact current students about missing/incomplete documents.
* Assist current students with completion of forms as needed.
* Review financial aid application for accuracy and ensure eligible aid is packaged and disbursed in a timely manner.
* At program end, track and document completion of Exit Counseling, following-up with students as necessary.
* Provide continued support and education to students and their parents on topics related to Financial Aid, including, but not limited to Title IV Federal Financial Aid, eligibility, financial literacy, and loan repayment.
* Thoroughly document student communication in CampusVue, including, but not limited to email, phone calls, text messages, and meetings.
* Assist in other phases of financial aid and student support, as necessary.
* Attend financial aid training, workshops and seminars, as necessary

Qualifications

* Minimum of a bachelor's degree. Equivalent experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
* Campus Nexus Student/CampusVue and Federal Financial Aid programs preferred, but not required.
* Customer Service experience

Skills: Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with a diverse group of students, staff, faculty, and the community in a service-oriented environment. Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects while meeting deadlines. Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times.

Special Qualifications: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Must be able to secure access to all Department of Education websites, including, but not limited to NSLDS, COD, CPS, etc. Candidates should have no prior history of student loan default.

Physical/Mental Demands & Work Environment: Must be able to sit at a computer desk for eight hours each day.
