The Office of Student Financial Aid & Scholarships (OSFA) endeavors to generate, evaluate, and implement strategic initiatives that create sustainable, long-term improvements to OSFA's administration of aid programs and services. The director has a critical role in enlisting others in setting, embracing, and achieving OSFA objectives while effectively leading and managing a team of four in the administrative, fiscal, and program management authority for federal and state aid programs. This position is responsible for funds management, fiscal reporting, reconciliation, and audits. This position reports to the Financial Aid Deputy Director.

The Financial Aid Director (FAD) will be responsible for the implementation of Title IV policies and procedures, as well as provide overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the team. The FAD will participate as an important member of the management committee. The FAD will be responsible for administering, determining eligibility, and processing student financial aid to maintain positive cash flow, in addition to other related tasks for management of the financial aid department.

Recruit, supervise, and oversee training of the financial aid staff

Oversee Title IV federal student financial aid programs as well as state and alternative loans

Maintain compliance with financial aid regulatory requirements as it pertains to federal, state, and accrediting agencies

Coordinates activities and teamwork with the staff in conjunction with the admissions process

Bachelor's Degree required, master's degree preferred

Must have 4-5 years of experience in financial aid with at least two years experience as either Director or Associate Director (other relevant experience may be considered)

Five (5) or more years experience in Title IV federal student financial aid

Management experience is required

Proficiency in verification and student eligibility criteria

Excellent customer service and organizational skills

Attention to detail with the capability to multi-task

Computer knowledge is recommended, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

This individual oversees the financial aid for the proposed Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine (OCOM). The Director of Financial Aid will need good interpersonal skills to successfully work with a variety of individuals and organizations.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support the OCOM-approved financial aid policies and ensure that they are adhered to throughout the financial aid process

Educate in person, prospective students regarding Financial Aid during the onsite interview day and accepted students day

Complete all required OCOM-specific reporting to AACOM, COCA, and Dean

Make recommendations to the Dean regarding scholarship recipients

Onsite education of financial aid specific for a College of Osteopathic Medicine at least twice annually, as required by COCA

Recommend updates to the Dean for the College of Osteopathic Medicine Cost of Living annually

Submit an annual Financial Aid Report to the Dean and ensure that the final approved copy is posted to the OCOMs website

Serve at the representative of the OCOM on the AACOM Financial Aid group

Assist the Dean in accreditation functions to include document creation, data collection, data entry, education of staff on accreditation, and other accreditation-related functions at the discretion of the Dean

Performs other related duties, as assigned
