ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists the VP/CFO with the development and supervision of the Accounting department:
-Coordinates with the VP/CFO on the goals/objectives of the Accounting department.
-Provides information and reports to the VP/CFO to clearly describe the Accounting department's activities and progress toward agreed upon objectives.
-Makes recommendations for new policies/procedures to improve the quality and quantity of work processed.
-Ensures the staff perform duties in compliance with Accounting policies and procedures.
-Prepares month-end closing, year-end closing, and prints appropriate reports on accounting software.
Monitors the purchasing function and inventory control to ensure that departments have necessary supplies, NHC purchasing procedures are followed, and prices are reasonable.
Supervises bi-weekly payroll - checks reports before submission for accuracy.
Takes responsibility for the accuracy of the General Ledger:
-Ensures that all GL distributions (including payroll) for various grants are correct and entered on a timely basis.
-Ensures that daily charges and receipts are balanced and recorded.
-Updates quarterly distribution/allocation tables per allocation plan.
-Ensures that all deposits are posted daily and deposited at the bank.
-Ensure that small bills and change are available in petty cash.
-Transfers money between checking accounts as needed.

Functional Overview & Responsibilities:
During your summer intern you will:
Work on a project or projects building your knowledge of practical use of SAP Business Processes at a multinational company
Build a deeper understanding of the pharmaceutical industry
Gather insights into how Lilly delivers innovative solutions through SAP
Work on a weeklong intensive case study competition with other finance, procurement, and SAP interns
Gain exposure to senior leadership and learn more about career paths and opportunities.
At the conclusion of the work period, each intern will present their project highlights, findings and general internship accomplishments to SAP Business Process and IT professionals.
Basic Qualifications:
Actively pursuing one of the following master's degrees: Business related with concentration or emphasis on accounting, finance, or data analytics or quantitatively focused including computer science, data science, information technology, or statistics with relevant coursework in business, accounting, or finance
Expected graduation date between by August 2027

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate's education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$43,000 - $110,000
Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
