The Finance Executive performs a variety of accounting activities in accordance with accounting principles and standards to control the organization's financial resources and ensure that it complies with all relevant regulations, laws and reporting requirements.
Responsibilities and Key Activities:

About the Role
We are seeking a Head of Finance to support firm, fund, and financial operations at GHIC as we expand our investment platform and launch our health security efforts. In this role, you will be responsible for building our backend infrastructure and managing fund finance and operations as we scale. This role is multi-disciplinary and requires expertise in finance, accounting, reporting, legal, compliance, and deal execution. You will interact directly with our portfolio companies and LPs, and work with the leadership team to run investment operations and support organizational growth.
This is a mission-critical role at GHIC with a path to grow and scale with the firm. We would prefer this role to be based in New York City or the San Francisco Bay Area.
Responsibilities
- Implement scalable back-office systems for finance, accounting, reporting, and compliance
- Manage fund financial operations matters, including valuations, capital calls, and tax and audit processes
- Oversee internal firm financial operations, including budgets, P&L, and expense management
- Manage financial reporting, including the creation of fund, portfolio, and investor dashboards and regular reports for multiple stakeholders
- Manage GHIC's financial planning including reserves, forecasts, and cash management
- Assist in processing and closing new and follow on investment transactions
- Develop portfolio and fund return models
- Ensure the firm is in full compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and government filings (e.g., Form 990, State filings); and lead efforts to become an SEC-registered advisor
- Help to manage legal processes for fundraising, including final execution of all LP and fund documents
- Oversee and support GHIC's annual external audit process
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree required, MBA or CFA preferred
- 5+ years experience in finance and operations at a VC, PE, hedge fund, or similar firm
- Demonstrated expertise in accounting, financial planning, reporting, and management
- Private company valuation experience (e.g. Topic 820) preferred
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Self-directed and detail-oriented
- Familiarity with non-profit accounting and compliance matters is a plus
- Passion for global health and driven to grow as part of a small team
