AAs a Level 1 Trauma Center, this position is responsible for performing all patient registration functions, including creating or confirming medical records and account numbers. The role ensures timely and accurate healthcare access by gathering demographic, sponsorship, guardian, insurance, financial, and statistical information from patients, families, physicians, physician office staff, and government agencies.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
* Patient Registration & Admissions
* Process patient and observation admissions for hospital emergency departments.
* Create or confirm medical records and account numbers accurately.
* Obtain necessary regulatory signatures for consent for treatment, financial responsibility agreements, and HIPAA compliance.
* Insurance & Financial Responsibilities
* Verify insurance eligibility and benefits electronically.
* Obtain insurance authorizations within required time frames.
* Identify and collect patient financial obligations at the point of service.
* Utilize third-party payer resources to confirm coverage, gain authorizations, and determine patient responsibility.
* Create cost estimates and collect payments to support facility first-pass yield and decrease account denials.
* Collaboration & Communication
* Consult and communicate with other hospital departments to maintain efficient patient care and registration workflows.
* Security & Safety
* Use the Passage point system to screen visitors and create security badges.
* Work Schedule
* Work scheduled weekend shifts on a rotating basis, in addition to regularly scheduled shifts.
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
* High school diploma or equivalent required.
* One (1) year of clerical experience in a patient or public contact setting OR six (6) months of experience in a health-related business office or third-party payor group.
* College-level coursework and knowledge of medical and insurance industry terminology preferred.
* Demonstrated experience performing multiple tasks simultaneously, adjusting to changing priorities, making timely and sound decisions, and working independently with minimal supervision.
* Proficiency with computer applications and the ability to work with multiple systems preferred.
* Strong verbal, analytical, and written communication skills required.
* Must be adaptable, tactful, and able to work well under pressure.
* Must understand the importance of a "first impression" role, including appropriate professional dress, attitude, and demeanor.
* Ability to work scheduled weekend shifts on a rotating basis in addition to regular shifts.
Motor Vehicle Operator Designation:
* May operate vehicles for assigned business purposes as a non-frequent driver.
* A "frequent driver" is defined as someone who uses a personal or Shands vehicle:
a) at least once daily,
b) five or more individual trips per week, or

Position Overview:
As a Student Financial Services Specialist at Galen College of Nursing, you will provide information, guidance, and assistance regarding various types of financial assistance, including, but not limited to federal financial aid, state aid, workforce agencies, employer payments, and VA benefits, to facilitate the enrollment, persistence, and completion of students, consistent with the Colleges mission.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist and guide active students throughout their program, including but not limited to:
a. Contact current students about missing/incomplete documents.
b. Assist current students with completion of forms as needed.
c. Review financial aid application for accuracy and ensure eligible aid is packaged and disbursed in a timely manner.
d. Support students in the management of additional financing options, including state aid, workforce agencies, employer payments, VA benefits, etc.
e. Create payment arrangements on term balances to support campus cash collections.
f. At program end, track and document completion of Exit Counseling, following-up with students as necessary.
2. Provide continued support and education to students and their parents on topics related to Financial Aid, including, but not limited to Title IV Federal Financial Aid, eligibility, financial literacy, and loan repayment.
3. Thoroughly document student communication in the student information system, including, but not limited to email, phone calls, text messages, and meetings.
4. Assist in other phases of financial aid, enrollment, and student support, as necessary.
5. Maintain confidentiality of students and student information. Follow guidelines by regulatory bodies such as FERPA, the Department of Education, other Galen accrediting agencies, federal, state and local laws, etc.
6. Maintain current knowledge of college policies and processes and relevant accreditation and regulatory requirements.
7. Attend financial aid training, workshops and seminars, as necessary or requested by the College.
8. Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
* Education:Minimum of a bachelor's degree. Equivalent experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
* Experience:Experience working with Federal Financial Aid programs preferred, but not required. Experience working with customer financial accounts preferred, but not required.
* Skills:Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Must possess excellent customer service skills. Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects while meeting deadlines. Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times. **Key Responsibilities**
+ Build relationships to create new clients via face-to-face and virtual sourcing strategies (e.g., residential, business, networking, introductions and referrals, social media and speaking engagements).
+ Deeply understand clients' and prospective clients' needs, priorities, and concerns to accelerate trust and create personalized, comprehensive strategies to help clients achieve their goals.
+ Oversee branch processes, roles, and responsibilities to ensure a high-quality, streamlined client experience consistent with firm policies and procedures, regulatory requirements, and ethical guidelines.
+ Engage the branch team to create, monitor, and adjust the branch business plan to increase branch effectiveness and achieve desired business results.

+ As an associate, you are required to complete ongoing training offered by the firm and regulatory authorities, as well as required training to maintain registrations and licenses in good standing.

Position Overview:
As a Student Financial Services Specialist at Galen College of Nursing, you will provide information, guidance, and assistance regarding various types of financial assistance, including, but not limited to federal financial aid, state aid, workforce agencies, employer payments, and VA benefits, to facilitate the enrollment, persistence, and completion of students, consistent with the College's mission.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist and guide active students throughout their program, including but not limited to:
a. Contact current students about missing/incomplete documents.
b. Assist current students with completion of forms as needed.
c. Review financial aid application for accuracy and ensure eligible aid is packaged and disbursed in a timely manner.
d. Support students in the management of additional financing options, including state aid, workforce agencies, employer payments, VA benefits, etc.
e. Create payment arrangements on term balances to support campus cash collections.
f. At program end, track and document completion of Exit Counseling, following-up with students as necessary.
2. Provide continued support and education to students and their parents on topics related to Financial Aid, including, but not limited to Title IV Federal Financial Aid, eligibility, financial literacy, and loan repayment.
3. Thoroughly document student communication in the student information system, including, but not limited to email, phone calls, text messages, and meetings.
4. Assist in other phases of financial aid, enrollment, and student support, as necessary.
5. Maintain confidentiality of students and student information. Follow guidelines by regulatory bodies such as FERPA, the Department of Education, other Galen accrediting agencies, federal, state and local laws, etc.
6. Maintain current knowledge of college policies and processes and relevant accreditation and regulatory requirements.
7. Attend financial aid training, workshops and seminars, as necessary or requested by the College.
8. Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
+ Education:Minimum of a bachelor's degree. Equivalent experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
+ Experience:Experience working with Federal Financial Aid programs preferred, but not required. Experience working with customer financial accounts preferred, but not required.
+ Skills:Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Must possess excellent customer service skills. Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects while meeting deadlines. Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times. Must be a team player by assisting and encouraging other Galen employees.
+ Special Qualifications:Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Must be able to secure access to all Department of Education websites, including, but not limited to NSLDS, COD, CPS, etc. Candidates should have no prior history of student loan default.
+ Physical/Mental Demands & Work Environment:Must be able to sit at a computer desk for eight hours each day. Must be available to work flexible schedule to include some evenings and occasional weekends.
