Uses depth of knowledge of suppliers to gain insights which are not obvious nor widely held that improve WBD's competitive advantage. Partners with Supplier Diversity efforts to creatively include diverse vendors in supplier selection processes and creatively grow existing diverse vendor spend. Leads environmentally friendly purchase efforts to support WBD's sustainability efforts.
Negotiations, Contract Creation & Management
Leads and develops multi-pronged negotiation strategies, contract analyses, and sourcing communications and meetings. Collaborates with stakeholders and legal counsel to lead global negotiations and contract coordination to ensure all geography-specific requirements are captured. Views new and existing opportunities from different angles to identify fresh and original ways of tapping those opportunities to get maximum return.
Sourcing-Driven Project Management
Identifies, implements, and manages large scale, complex projects across business units and geographies - may involve outsourcing analysis and total cost of ownership considerations. Identifies opportunities where project management expertise needs to be implemented and works to ensure that those involved in key projects are managing them optimally.

The Director of Patient Financial Services (DPFS) is responsible for the coordination of all front-end patient services for the Hospital. The DPFS will oversee the Admitting scheduling, pre-registration, registration areas, Communication and Patient Accounting Departments. The DPFS ensures all Department policies and procedures are reviewed and updated as needed to meet Corporate, federal, state and regulatory requirements. The DPFS manages all Communication, Admitting and Patient Accounting staff with the assistance of an Admitting Supervisor and communicates all relevant matters to the Chief Financial Officer and/or Chief Operating Officer. The DPFS supports a cooperative team environment to provide value to customers (internal or external). The DPFS carries out his/her duties by adhering to the highest standards of business ethics and integrity and acts in the best interest of Monterey Park Hospital to support our mission and core values and follows AHMC's Code of Conduct. The DPFS is also the Hospital's Emergency Management Officer. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer and/or Chief Operating Officer.
+ Provides leadership and direction to the Admitting, Communications and Patient Accounting departments to make sure the best billing, collection, admission and patient financial chart audit practices are enforced and followed.
+ Creates, implements and updates Department Policies and Procedures following company, regulatory and legal requirements. Ensures all documentation and patient information complies with HIPAA, Patient Rights and The Joint Commission requirements.
+ Complies with federal, state, local laws that govern business practices including the CA Department of Health Services, CMS and HCFA requirements that apply to the DPFS position.
+ Prepares, validates and estimates the Hospital's accounts receivables (AR) at the end of every month. DPFS will also respond to all questions regarding the AR during quarterly audits.
+ DPFS also actively participates in the Hospital's Denial Management efforts including, but not limited to composing appeal letters.
+ Analyzes identified problems to determine cause and desired resolution. Takes steps necessary to implement resolution.
+ Develops department budget, and maintains operations within budgetary guidelines. Analyzes department variances to ensure that budget standards are met.
+ Identifies areas of opportunity for the department to provide in-house services and rely increasingly less on third parties for collection activities.
+ Reviews several audit reports monthly to ensure admissions and discharge data is accurate. Prepares several internal and external for submission.
+ Monitors the Communication, Admitting and Patient Accounting departments to ensure productivity, data accuracy, collections and chart audits meets the department standards for format, content, and quality.
+ Oversees the performance management of staff with input from the Admitting Supervisors, and takes appropriate action to control or improve performance.
+ Establishes good rapport and working relationships with coworkers, other hospital staff, physicians and the public.
+ Responsible for Emergency Management and Preparation. Works closely with the Safety Officer to comply with all hospital safety and injury prevention policies and regulations.
+ Provides Fraud, Waste and Abuse and Disaster training for new employees and staff.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, Training
+ Significant experience (5+ years) in patient accounting required.
+ BA/BS in Business or Health Administration or related experience required.
