Finance Systems Analyst Careers

The Finance Systems Analyst is generally in charge of examining, maintaining, and implementing various financial systems, hardware, and software for the purposes of data analyses and financial transactions and tracking. Such software might be Banner, EdConnect, or other. More specifically, they modify system menus, create, edit, and update databases, spreadsheets, and financial reports, and otherwise fix and alter the programs as issues and ideas come up.

They also might be tasked with training new employees in the use of the financial systems and may act as an overall consultant. They are usually found working for banks, mutual funds, and similar financial institutions.

A person hoping to begin work in this position will generally need to have at least a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Computer Science, Accounting, or a related field of study. Depending on the job and the company's work, the Analyst may have to get further education or specialization, certification, or licensing. Strong analytical, computer science, and communication skills are also important.
