  • Manages and maintains the City’s depository accounts and/or other assigned bank accounts: Reconciles and monitors account balances and determines availability of funds. Maintains bank account files; researches and resolves account issues.
  • Coordinates and conducts accounting duties in the areas of capital assets, general ledger account reconciliations, inventory, capital projects, accounts payable, grants, payroll, purchasing, and accounts receivable.
  • Calculates, prepares, adjusts, and posts journal entries, processes cash receipts for area of responsibility, and prepares related spreadsheets.
  • Facilitates and reconciles the interface of accounting data from individual department applications to the Financial/Accounting system.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, DEGREES, CERTIFICATES AND OR LICENSES:

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in accounting or finance, preferred.
  • Two (2) to four (4) years accounting experience, preferably in a governmental environment with extensive spreadsheet knowledge is required.
  • A minimum of one year governmental operation experience with proven skills in accounting and financial management preferred.
  • CGFO certification preferred.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Texas Class C driver’s license with satisfactory driving record, as defined by City policy.
  • Proof of citizenship and/or eligibility to work legally in the United States.

A combination of education, training and experience providing the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The working conditions for this position are office work with lifting of 25lbs, sitting for long periods of time, and daily computer use.

What's the secret to our success here at GEICO? It's actually no secret at all; we simply find and invest in good people. That's why we're looking for an experienced Financial Analyst to join our Financial, Planning and Analysis team as a Senior FP&A Associate/Finance Tech Liaison who will serve as the primary liaison between our Tech and Finance departments.

This position will partner with leadership in the Finance, Technology, Procurement, and Product areas within GEICO, with a focus on understanding technology funding, developing financial forecasts, and assisting in critical technology investment decisions.

This position requires in depth financial knowledge, including critical FP&A concepts such as driver-based forecasting and predictive modeling, an understanding of basic tech organizational structure and the agile framework, and very strong analytical and communications skills. The work product is directed towards senior leadership so as the Finance Tech Liaison working directly with the Director of FP&A, you will have frequent interactions with the CFO, CIO, and other Tech and Business leaders.
Primary Responsibilities:

* Engage with the Tech Finance team on a regular basis to develop an in-depth understanding of current and planned expenditures by the tech organization
* Regularly update the tech-related portion of the 12-month rolling financial forecast
* Participate in tech investment decision and prioritization discussions
* Provide finance expertise to support tech decision making
* Pursue system changes to better support tech expense management
* Analyze allocation models to ensure proper alignment of tech investments with product line P&Ls
* Prepare ad hoc financial analysis, management, and KPI reports
* Work with tech financial management team to report the status of tech investments and related value

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required
* MBA preferred
* Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in Financial Planning & Analysis
* Prior experience with Tech Finance preferred
* Experience with data modeling using Python, R, or similar tools
* Familiarity with Business Intelligence tools such as PowerBI, prior development work preferred
* Familiarity with Workday Financials and Adaptive Planning preferred
* Advanced Excel skills
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
* Ability to work independently
* Knowledge of GAAP and STAT Accounting a plus

This role does require 10% or less travel and a remote work schedule is available
