1984

In 1984, Capital purchased First Deposit Corporation from Parker Pen Corporation.

1986

However, by 1986, this venture still had not shown a profit and Capital terminated the project.

1987

The issue of nonbank banks was more difficult to deal with, but it was eventually addressed in the Competitive Equality Banking Act of 1987.

In 1987, as it strengthened its hold on the moderate-income segment of the marketplace, the company sold its Georgia International Life Insurance Company subsidiary, which focused primarily on higher-income households.

1988

Simons died in August 1988 and was succeeded as chairman and chief executive officer of Capital Holding by Irving W. Bailey II. He had been with the company for ten years and had most recently served as president and chief operating officer.

Capital joined with four other insurance companies in 1988 to settle previous complaints lodged by Delaware's insurance commissioner.

1989

In 1989, Capital purchased Southlife Holding Company, a Nashville, Tennessee-based insurer, to increase its market share in the home-service field.

1999

In 1999, China Development Corporation was restructured as an industrial bank.

2000

With more than 9,000 employees, Mega Financial Holding Company is considered one of the Top 2000 Largest Public Companies in the World, according to Forbes.

2001

In 2001, China Development Financial (CDF) was formally incorporated and launched its IPO on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.

2002

The company was formed by the merger of Chiao Tung Bank (CTB) and International Securities (IS) on February 4, 2002.

On August 22, 2002, it acquired Chung Hsing Bills Finance and Barits Securities (BS).

2003

On January 31, 2003, International Securities (IS) and Barits Securities (BS) were combined with Chung Hsing Securities to become Mega Securities.

2006

On August 21, 2006, the company decided to merge its two banking units, the International Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) and Chiao Tung Bank (CTB), and re-branded as Mega International Commercial Bank Co., Ltd. (MICB)
