SUMMARY: The Legal Analyst - Specialty Lending is responsible for performing detailed review of loan documentation related to the Bank's participated or syndicated credit facilities. Duties and Responsibilities

HIC Complaints
Collect, process and make eligibility determinations on formal complaints made against Home Improvement Contractors registered with OCABR.
Ensure completeness of complaint files before providing to the Hearing Officer.
Work with Hearing Officer, complainants and contractors to schedule hearings.
Send Hearing Officer determinations to parties when ready.
Maintain complaint and determination records and support enforcement efforts if necessary.
Produce relevant reports on HIC Complaints, including number of complaints; time to resolution; and determinations.
Identify cases that could be resolved via settlement/consent agreements and support the drafting, review, execution, and tracking of consent agreements.
Track disciplinary actions, including administrative fines, to ensure compliance deadlines are being met.
Track cases that have been appealed and provide all necessary information to the Attorney General's Office to allow for adequate representation by them.
Other OCABR Programs
Assist the General Counsel to develop, implement, and maintain procedures and guidelines to support OCABR's goals, including those related to the Home Improvement Contractor program.
Support the administration of OCABR's legal unit by maintaining organized legal files and databases, performing policy, legal and regulatory research, and responding promptly to internal requests.
Assist with legal audits by reviewing documentation, analyzing statements and disclosures, and assessing accuracy and consistency of information.

Partner, counsel and advise Property Operations and Marketing on Property Management issues and coordinate with property and asset managers as needed.
Oversee risk management and property operations' insurance programs and coordinate with third-party adjusters and insurers on general liability and property management claims/suits including the evaluation thereof and coordination with adjusters/outside counsel to resolve claims/suits.
Engage and manage outside counsel, as necessary.
Interface with Federal's third-party environmental consultant.
Manage the design, development and construction contract preparation process for our properties.
Review and negotiate access agreements, easement agreements, and related documents for our properties.
Review and negotiate contracts with vendors, consultants, and other third parties for Property Operations, Marketing, Accounting, Tenant Coordination, Construction, and Development, and Specialty/Temp Leasing.
Prepare, update and implement corporate legal operations policies and procedures.
Qualifications
A Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
7+ years' legal experience in commercial/retail real estate law
Litigation or litigation management experience, a plus
Proven success as a partner and adviser to business operations
Ability to work cooperatively, efficiently, and collaboratively with others in a team environment

The US Legal Department of CIBC is seeking a law student to serve as a Legal Intern for Summer 2026. The intern will participate in a variety of projects and will gain valuable exposure to the workings of an in-house legal department at a growing US financial institution that is affiliated with Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, one of Canada's largest banks.
CIBC's US Legal Department provides legal support for all of the consumer and commercial banking activities of CIBC Bank USA and the investment activities of CIBC's US Private Wealth affiliates. The department also includes the US Corporate Secretary, US Regulatory Affairs, Legal Process, and US Privacy Office functions. Interns may work on projects related to any or all of these functions, and thus will be exposed to not only a wide variety of legal subject matter, but also regulatory relations, regulatory compliance, risk management, and operations matters.
This internship will be based at CIBC Bank USA's headquarters in Chicago's Loop, with the potential for remote and hybrid work options (though not guaranteed).
We anticipate the internship will begin in May 2026 and end in August or September 2026, with exact start and end dates mutually agreed upon and taking into account the student's academic calendar. The expected rate of pay for this internship is $35/hour.
