We are a fast-paced, established fire protection and life safety system contractor based in Jacksonville, FL. We are seeking qualified candidates for Fire Alarm Technician with experience in new Installations and service work.

Responsibilities include new installation of Fire Alarm projects working with job site superintendents to get the fire alarm system installed in a timely and professional manner. Service Technician will be required to work directly with customer to resolve fire alarm system issue’s is a professional manner.

Required skills for this position include proficiency in using Windows-base, and the ability to interpret architectural drawings/specifications. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem resolution and communication skills in tandem with a proficient mechanical aptitude.

The position requires 2-5 years of experience in fire alarm industry with an emphasis on Fire Alarm Installation and Service work.

Fire & Life Safety America fire alarm technician job description

  1. Comprehensive working knowledge of fire alarm codes and standards. NICET II or NICET III preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered assuming individual pursues NICET alarms education/certification.
  2. Working knowledge of fire alarm programming software.
  3. Candidate will carry or manipulate loads/equipment up to 20 pounds on a frequent basis, and up to 50 pounds on occasional basis.
  4. Must be able to constantly or frequently reach overhead/above shoulders, stand, stoop, bend, climb, and crawl in many work environments. May be required to work at elevated heights and/or work in confined spaces.
  5. Work conditions will include exposure to dusts, heat, cold, and potential noises.
  6. Able to coordinate between field crews and design to successfully complete projects within scope and time constraints.
  7. Able to perform testing and maintenance on all fire alarm systems and complete documentation as necessary of programmed system.
  8. Able to interact and correspond to customers in person and/or writing in a professional manner.
  9. Periodically attend seminars or similar education/training sessions to stay abreast of latest technology, codes, and standards changes.

Ability to read and write clearly. Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, customer, AHJ’s (Authorities Having Jurisdiction) and the general public. Must be able to have basic understanding of engineered drawings and/or electrical schematics.

Reports to ASH Manager on a district/regional level.
