Description & Details: The Wildland Fire Technician (WFT) provides wildland fire training instruction that focuses on local volunteer fire department needs to enhance firefighter and public safety. This may include developing and delivering local and regional fire department training to provide firefighter certifications and to supplement State Fire School courses. Along with training the WFT assists with cooperative fire programs that provide funding and equipment to build local rural fire department wildland firefighting capacity. The WFT also participates in wildland fire suppression, preparedness, and prevention activities in and out-of-state to strengthen NDFS mutual aid support to fire departments. Work Schedule: 40 hours/week; 8 - 5, M - F. Often work schedule will be adjusted to accommodate fire department trainings during evening and weekend hours. Position may work long hours for extended durations during wildland fire season. Determine that no defective, unserviceable, or un-airworthy parts are installed in any component or aircraft released by the repair station.
