What Does A Fire Prevention Officer Do At University of Rochester

* Plans, directs and implements Infection Prevention Program Objectives for Strong Memorial Hospital.
* Serves as a consultant, educator, researcher and change agent.
* Overseas and monitors all activities of the Infection Prevention Program.
* Incorporates principles of total quality improvement in all that is done to promote the highest quality health care at the lowest cost.
* Directs all activities of the hospital-wide program.
* Hires, mentors and evaluates the performance of the department staff.
* Ensures compliance with Joint Commission, NYSDOH and other regulatory and accrediting agency standards.
* Member of the Quality Management Team.
* Responsibilities:
* The responsibilities of the Associate Quality Officer, Infection Prevention includes:
* Oversight and supervision of staff of the Infection Prevention Department including development of goals and objectives for continuous improvement.
* Active leadership for quality improvement initiatives involving infection prevention domains
* Participation in planning of quality goals in concert with other in the Quality Management Team
* Assisting in the development and implementation of infection prevention measures.
* Consultation on isolation policy and patient placement.
* Reporting reportable communicable diseases to the health department.
* Development, implementation and surveillance of improved patient care procedures as related to prevention of health care associated infections.
* Responsibility for the operations of the Infection Prevention Department including: daily workload, productivity and special projects and committee participation.
* This includes attending daily safety rounds.
* Management of the HR functions of the Infection Prevention Department including recruitment, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions and terminations.
* Analysis and reporting of surveillance data on a periodic basis to the Infection Prevention Committee and Quality Committees.
* Oversight and supervision of epidemiologic investigations of all clusters of infection with inclusion of suggested interventions.
* Preparation and Monitoring of the annual department budget
* Consistently adhering to budget guidelines.
* Planning and overseeing educational programs related to infection prevention for all departments
* This includes provision of orientation (new staff members and hand hygiene observers), in service and continuing education programs.
* Attending and participating in management meetings and committees and reporting back to department pertinent and appropriate information.
* Participating in and leading weekly departmental staff meetings.
* Providing consultation regarding infection prevention issues to all satellite practices and Acute Care Dialysis.
* Consulting with and collaborating with the Occupational and Environmental Medicine Department in activities related to infection prevention for employees.
* Reviewing procedures regarding environmental cleanliness.
* Assisting in planning and review of construction projects.
* Involvement in community-wide infection prevention meetings/activities.
* Providing guidance regarding entering and analysis of IP data
